Band on Bricks opens season with Smash: Paper Bird
Several thousand people were on hand last night on the Pearl Street mall for the first Wednesday night Band on the Bricks concert of the summer. Paper Bird was frivolous, fun and mildly entertaining in a goofy kind of way. Not to be taken seriously as musicians ( they couldn’t play) but they did spin their way through several folky, blue grassy, 1940′s original tunes. Their focus is to “send up”, make fun of and insult musical forms especially blue grass. Thusly, they are called underground.
Basically they were a bunch bums from Breckenridge( or at least they met in Breck according to their website) who formed a terrible garage band around 3 cute girls who managed to harmonize and Walla! a real authentic American underground band .

Paper Bird
My name is Tyler Archuletta, and I am the Trombonist from Paper Bird, and I was wondering if you could help me understand whether or not you pay the person responsible for this article; If you do, they are a poor poor journalist and are probably a waste of your companies time and efforts. Anyone is entitled to their opinion, the world needs constructive criticism, and in reality i agree with the author on one point in some respect. They claimed we were poor musicians, and in a way we are. However the part I was upset about wasn't their opinion of our music, and how we came to be:
“Basically they were a bunch of college drop out drunken ski bums from Breckenridge who formed a terrible garage band around 3 cute girls who managed to harmonize and Walla! a real authentic American underground band .”
In clarification, three of the four men in the band are college graduates, I am the only one to never go to college. We are certainly not from Breckenridge, and two of the four of us don't drink at all. None of us have ever been ski bums.
I guess Im just peeved because its such poor reporting. anyone can say anything they want about the music people make, its up for interpretation. but when you are making bold claims about peoples personal life, it turns into slander.
OKAY SO COLLEGE GRADS..BUT PL;EASE DON'T TELL US THEY ARE TECH-NO PHILES., ENGINEERS OR LAWYERS..THAT WOULD BE WORSE
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this. I hope in one way or the other it informs you of the tacky nature of this author.
Best,
Tyler
TYLER…YOUR WEBSITE SAYS YOU ALL MET IN BRECK…….SO WE JUST ASSUMED YOU WERE ALL BUMS SINCE WE NEVER MET ANYONE FROM A SKI AREA WHO COULD STAY ON A BAR STOOL.
