John and Patsy Ramsey

Boulder Police believe John and Patsy Ramsey killed their daughter Christmas night 1996. In a fit of rage, Patsy Ramsey who had just returned from a party, grabbed her daughter and smashed her head against the bath tub. The child had wet her bed. But she was killed instantly.  Throughout the night  Patsy and her husband John created an elaborate scenario right out of the movies of how a group of Arabs had come into their home , left a ransom note, strangled and raped their daughter and left her body in the basement.

As soon as the first cop and detective arrived on the scene, they saw through the story.  By nightfall the Ramseys were on their private jet to Atlanta. Surrounded by a team of lawyers and PR people they went into hiding and on CNN to proclaim their innocence. They created a media frenzy the like of which Boulder nor America had ever seen. There was no way these rich freak were going to be charged with their daughters murder. First of all it would upset their social setting. Secondly it would ruin their image as a family of beauty queen socialites. Murder does not have a place there.

jonbenet 2

Burke Ramsey age 27 and his girlfriend.. ( striking resemblance to Jonbenet)

Burke Ramsey who was 9 years old at the time was whisked away. He has never been heard from since.  Police believe he witnessed the murder and was told by Patsy and John that if he planned on living he better shut up for the rest of his life.  Then district attorney Alex Hunter believe that to this day.  The hope is now that Burke Ramsey has come of age (27) he will come forward and tell what he knows.

That’s not likely. But current Boulder DA Stan Garnet could arrest John Ramsey for the murder of is daughter and he could arrest Burke Ramsey too.  That is not completely out of the question, but there is this legal issue ” beyond reasonable doubt”

Garnet gave the case back to Boulder Police department who reopened it. It is not a cold case.

One celebrated Boulder criminal defense attorney Skip Wollrab told us now that Burke Ramsey is of age”he could be subpoenaed to appear before a Grand jury to tell about what he knew , saw and heard the night of the murder. Just the facts. Some of it might be privileged” but this would give Burke a chance to tell his story.   Attorney Wollrab  told Boulder Channel 1 the “DA has got to be able to prove his case to a jury of 12 unanimously beyond a reasonable doubt. Knowing they did it is one thing , proving they did it is something else” he said.

There was also some level of semen found in Jonbenets body and police have not revealed whether they think it is Burkes.  At one point Burke Ramsey was himself a suspect and  police theorized that he might have killed his sister out of Jealousy.

The question is will the DA move this case forward this Christmas.

FLEET AND PRICELLA WHITE

The Whites

For the third time in 15 years Boulder Police have repeatedly said Fleet White was not involved in JonBenets murder. Why do they keep bringing up Fleet White  then ?? And why now ? Why after reporter Charlie Brennan got the DA to release the Grand Jury findings which say John and Patsy Ramsey did it ?? White was in the house  the day of the murder, but why do the police keep going back to him ?? Are they setting a trap?? And for whom? Jon Ramsey ? These are the actions of a trap setter. Why are the police bringing this case back to life by retelling the whole saga of Fleet White and John Ramsey ??

jonbenet 1

The Ramseys

jonbenet 3

JonBenet at 6 in 1996. She’d be 24 in 2014.

The Saga is in short John Ramsey and Fleet white were best friends. They entertained together. JonBenet was friends with Whites daughter. White was with John Ramsey when he found JonBenets Body. But when John Ramsey and his wife Patsy went to Atlanta and went on CNN to claim their innocence… white and Ramsey had a huge falling out. Some say almost deadly and there were reports of a fight over a handgun on a couch.  White became a prime witness for the prosecution but in the meanwhile a California woman came forward and claimed white and his father had abused her. The tabloids and and some attorneys got a hold of the story and it blew up into a tawdry scandal. This case and story was laced with inappropriate sexuality concerning children  and the pageant industry.

Fleet White again wants the police to clear his name. Fine. But, Until John Ramsey is arrested and convicted by Boulder Police , DA and Boulder Jury there will be no peace for anyone involved.  The Ghost of JonBenet can be heard still to this day, screaming in the Boulder midnight January howling winds ” mommy why did you kill me??” listen carefully at night Boulder, you can hear here little voice.

FROM BOULDER POLICE
To correct past inaccurate statements and speculation appearing in the media, and at the request of Fleet and Priscilla White, the Boulder Police Department releases the following statement:
Since December 26, 1996, the homicide of JonBenet Ramsey has been the subject of widespread news reports and speculation by the media. A great deal of that reporting and speculation targeted innocent community members whose only connection to the crime was as cooperating witnesses. This includes the Fleet White, Jr. family of Boulder who suffered embarrassment and damage to their reputations. The Boulder Police Department recognizes the suffering the Whites have endured as a result of the accusations made against the White family during the course of the investigation.
The Boulder Police Department investigators have always considered the White family to only be witnesses in this case. The Boulder Police Department has never considered the White family to be suspects in the case. In 2000, the police department did investigate allegations made by a California woman to District Attorney Alex Hunter, as reported in the press, that were intended to cast suspicion on the White family. The department found no evidence to support the unfounded allegations. There has never been any evidence to link the White family to the JonBenet Ramsey homicide.
We wish to express our gratitude for the White family’s cooperation and contributions in regard to the investigation of JonBenet’s death.

Investigators at the time were disappointed in the then district attorney’s decision not to issue indictments.  Cases are rarely perfect and often contain conflicting evidence.  As a result, the opportunity to present the entire case to a jury may be lost forever.  We also understand the criteria for taking a case to trial is higher than probable cause.

What we have learned from this experience is how important the relationships are between police departments which investigate cases and the district attorneys who ultimately prosecute cases.    These roles should always remain clear. At the same time, both agencies must work collaboratively together as a team.  Under District Attorney Stan Garnett, we’ve been able to develop a team approach – with both agencies aiming for similar goals – to achieve unprecedented success in prosecuting cold cases, most of which had been rejected for prosecution under previous district attorneys.  Justice, and the public interest, is better served with this type of collaboration and shared focus.

Indictments: Parents aided in JonBenet’s death

You Killed me. Mommy ? Burke ?? Daddy?

Grand Jury and Boulder Police say John and Patsy Ramsey murdered their kid. Straight Up

Court documents released Friday show that a Colorado grand jury voted in 1999 to indict the parents of murdered 6-year-old JonBenet Ramsey on charges of child abuse resulting in death and being accessories to a crime.

The district attorney decided that year, however, not to file charges against John and Patricia Ramsey, saying there was insufficient evidence. In 2008, a new district attorney said new DNA evidence cleared the parents and their son in the death.

jpr

They did it.

The court documents, which were previously sealed, show how the grand jury sought to charge each parent with two identical counts.

“The grand jury had alleged that Patsy Ramsey and husband John Ramsey “did … permit a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation which posed a threat of injury to the child’s life or health which resulted in the death of JonBenet Ramsey.”

The grand jury also had alleged that each parent “did … render assistance to a person” who “has committed and was suspected of the crime of murder in the first degree and child abuse resulting in death.”

The documents provide no further details on who that “person” was. The grand jury had accused the couple of committing the offenses “on or between December 25 and December 26, 1996.” JonBenet was found murdered in the basement of the family’s Boulder home the day after Christmas 1996.

The Boulder District Attorney claimed in 2008 that new DNA evidence ruled out the Ramsey’s as JonBenet’s murderer. But new DA Stan Garnet gave the case back to police in 2011. He told Boulder Channel 1s Jann Scott in May that the Ramsey’s were not exonerated by him and that the case was fully in Boulder Police departments hands.

Boulder Police believe that John and Patsy Ramsey were involved with their childs murder and that there was no intruder. The new DA Stan Garnet seems to believe that too.

JonBenet Ramsey’s murder front burner

0

The grand jury record will be released on Friday

One of the most notorious unsolved murders in Boulder, not to mention U.S. history, has recently been moved to the front burner, at least for the time being.

On Dec.26, 1996, six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in an obscure basement room in her family home in the University Hill neighborhood. She had been sexually assaulted, then strangled with a garrote.

No one has ever been charged with JonBenet's murder

No one has ever been charged with JonBenet’s murder

Due to the fact that JonBenet was a child beauty-pageant star, the case captured the world’s interest and spawned nearly unprecedented media coverage for several years, never  going completely away.

The case began as a suspected kidnapping due to an oddly written ransom note, which demanded $118,000 for her safe return. Late in the day, John Ramsey discovered her body and brought it upstairs to a roomful of shocked police officers and Ramsey family friends.

In the course of the investigation, District Attorney Alex Hunter empaneled a grand jury in 1999 to consider the case. The grand jury handed down indictments of JonBenet’s parents—John and Patsy Ramsey—but the indictments were never reported until the Daily Camera published a story earlier this year quoting members of the grand jury saying it had indicted the couple for child abuse resulting in death.

Hunter was quoted as saying he had declined to prosecute the Ramseys at that time because he didn’t believe he could prove the case “beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Daily Camera reporter Charlie Brennan and a group known as the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press filed a lawsuit in Boulder District Court in September, claiming:

“The plaintiffs believe… that the indictment is a criminal justice record that reflects official action by the grand jury, and accordingly that it is subject to mandatory disclosure upon request.”  Brennan and the RCFP also argue that the indictment should be made public in the interest of government transparency.

The Boulder DA’s office said unsealing the indictment would be “breach of promise” to the jury, citing the importance of maintaining the integrity of grand jury secrecy.

JonBenet Ramsey was a child beauty pageant star

But last week, Weld County Judge Robert Lowenbach, the judge hearing the lawsuit by Brennan and RCFP, ruled that current Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett must show why the indictment must remain secret.

Not surprisingly, John Ramsey opposes the move unless the entire Grand Jury records are released.

Whatever the grand jury transcripts might show, in 2008, then District Attorney Mary Lacy declared that new DNA technology proved the Ramseys innocent of any wrongdoing.

The genetic material matches came from a drop of blood found on JonBenet’s underwear early in the investigation. The authorities determined then that the blood was not from a member of the Ramsey family but could not say whether it came from the killer.

In 2006,  Lacy’s office announced the arrest of John Karr , after several months of investigation. But Karr’s DNA did not match, and less than two weeks later Lacy announced that he was no longer a suspect.

Hal Haddon and Bryan Morgan, attorneys who represent John Ramsey said in a letter to the Camera: “Public release of the allegations of an un-prosecuted indictment only serves to further defame (John Ramsey) and his late wife Patricia. Mr. Ramsey will have no access to whatever evidence the prosecutors presented to the grand jury and will have no ability to disprove those allegations in a court of law. Nor will the public have any ability to evaluate the propriety of the indictment unless the entire grand jury record is unsealed and opened to public view.”

From the beginning, investigators believed someone in the household was responsible, citing the lack of evidence of a break in, the complex layout of the house, the amount of time it took to write the two, 400 +/-word ransom-demand letters and similarities to Patsy’s hand writing. But a key detective, Lt. John Eller, who was the ranking investigator, would not press the Ramseys to be interrogated separately; insisting that the parents were victims, not suspects.

Under pressure, Patsy finally provided writing samples but a forensic handwriting expert ruled that, while very similar, the writing in the sample did not rise to the legal standard required to determine it was hers.

On Wednesday, the judge ordered the grand jury record to be released.

BC1 Editor Ron Baird covered the JonBenet Ramsey investigation for the Colorado Daily, when it was a real newspaper.

Visionary says Photographer killed Jon Benet Ramsey

1

Occasionally, we get someone who feels they have some insight to the Murder of Jon Benet Ramsey on Christmas Night 1996. Here is one such vision. Interesting because it goes down the road of Stephen Singular s “Presumed Guilty an investigation into the JonBenet Ramsey Case, the media, and the culture of Pornography” In his book he makes connections between the child Pageantry world, pedophile followers, the weirdness of the mothers involved, the porn industry and more.
In the 1990s we interviewed strippers who said they came up through the child pageant business. there are other books and studies done which show the connection between the pageant business , porn, deviant sex crimes and all of it.
The question remains Could a child pageant photographer have killed little Jon Benet??

“My vision concerning Jon Benet Ramsey
By David Figueroa”

“I, David Figueroa lived in Tyler, Texas. on 26 December 1996, I was working for Jack O’Diamond Lincoln Mercury. The news flashed on television concerning the murder of the little girl from Boulder. I had moved to Tyler, Texas. on February 1996 in pursuit of my “Dream” to fulfill God’s plan for my life. I wanted to be the Crusade Director for R.W. Schambach Revivals. I was not successful in obtaining the job.
After much frustration I decided to move back to Tulsa, Oklahoma., on June 1997 where I formerly lived. I was driving my car on Lewis avenue when suddenly I was pulled over by a Tulsa Police Officer for having my license plate wrongfully displayed. To my devastation I was shocked to receive the information that I had a warrant out for my arrest for a)indecent exposure & b)sexual battery. This crime occurred in July of 1994 after I met Tulsa’s leading Master Tarot Card Reader. I was studying the prophetic ministry, metaphysical knowledge and the world of the Psychic Realm. The evening of that July in 1994, I was studying material by the late Dr. Lester Sumrall on the subject of Demonology. (I should have been at Braums Ice cream) At about 11:00 pm I received a call from Master Tarot Card Reader “Miss So-n-So”. We had a 2 hour conversation which covered different topics including her personal life. I was single, 30 years old, lonely and the interest of meeting her was something I entertained. I had gone through a divorce 5 years earlier and wanted to meet a nice lady, and this gave the occasion being that she indicated she was single. She invited me to her place of business. She said she owned a hair salon and it happen to be on 31st Sheridan & I lived on 21st Sheridan. We talked about the possibility of me even getting a hair cut from her. She also said she gave readings and charge $40.00. She invited me over and told me that she would be alone there on her day off but that she would be there for me.
I prepared to go to work but I made plans to meet with her and get to know her. At 10:00am the designated time given to meet her, I walked in to her Hair Salon and introduced myself. She was there with another lady. She was in progress of a Tarot Card Session. I said to her; I thought you wanted to meet me? She just sat there in a hypnotic state of mind and I told her I was leaving. As I did an about-face and walked off, I was overcome by a force and turned around and expose myself. When I snapped out of it, I was alarmed and pushed the other lady out of the way as she stood and I ran out. I think that I was confused by the material I was studying the previous night and the extent and content of the conversation I had with “Miss So-n-So.” That night I called her back and several times afterward. I was really confused with all the junk I was studying.
The next day a Det. Richard Smith from the Tulsa Police Department called me at exactly 11:00pm. He told me there was a homicide and wanted to talk to me about it. He ask if I knew “Miss So-n-So”, the Tarot Card Reader. I said; Yes. He said; she has been murdered and you need to come talk to me tonight. I went to the police station and met with the Detective. He gave me a cup of coffee. He questioned me; do I know Miss So-n-So? I said I did. And, then He continued by saying I have been accused of indecent exposure but it is a misdemeanor, do not worry about it. I went home and I was worried and confused.
Three years passed by and I was in Tyler, Texas. When I decided to return to Tulsa on 1997 I had no idea I had a warrant out for my arrest. It just so happens that the arrest took place on the same day the incident happened on 1994.
I was devastated. I was sentenced to 2 years at John Lilley Correctional Center. I served 6 months in the Tulsa County Jail. While at John Lilley Correctional Center I had two visions. I saw an inmate who was a Christian packing his belongings and I heard a voice that said; “tell him tomorrow to pack his things because in 3 days he will be leaving”. The inmate was there for 20 years! Then right after that vision, Jon Benet Ramsey appeared to me. She had a camera strapped around her neck and she said to me three times; “the photographer did it”. Then she vanished.
The next day I saw the inmate who was a believer in Jesus Christ in the dorm. I approached him and told him; “The Lord Jesus told me to tell you in a vision to pack your things because in 3 days you will be leaving”. He looked at me as if I was nuts. And, there were about 4 other inmates there with him. He told me: “David you better be right because if you are not I am going to come looking for you”. About that time his name was called out in the intercom. It was exactly 1:00pm. Three hours later he approached me because he was looking for me. He was grinning from ear to ear with the good news that was given to him by the case manager who told him to “pack his things because in 3 days he was leaving”. Three days later he was gone.
I believe God has given me the answer to the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey.
I was released from John Lilley Correctional Center on 28 January 1999. Soon thereafter I landed on a job at The Petroleum Club of Tulsa. I rented a room from my manager Jeannie Thorton. While off of work one afternoon, I had woke up from bed and proceeded toward the hallway to the restroom, when suddenly at the bottom of the stairs stood Jon Benet Ramsey. She had a camera strapped around her neck as in the vision at John Lilley Correctional Center and said to me three times; “the photographer did it”. And then she vanished. This premonition occurred a few more times thereafter. I was so convinced that it was from God that I told Clp. Randy Lawmaster from the Tulsa Police Department about it.
I am a Catholic. I grew up in church all my life except for the ages of 14,15 & 16, when I rebelled.
If this vision is a mistake I do apologize but I think it is from God. And, the answer to the murder concerning Jon Benet Ramsey has to do with a camera or photographer.

Cocaine Murder back in News: Boulder Police warrant won't find Thayne Smika

0

This story is a long sordid story of celebrity, murder, money, the rich and cocaine. Boulder was all abuzz in the early disco punk 80′s when Cocaine made everyones eyeballs buldge out and turned one poor Longmont drug dealer into a murderer.

The way the story goes is that Sid Wells and Shauna Redford were part of the rich cool CU cocaine set.. Thayne Smika was the poor kid from Longmont who was a drug dealer who wormed his way into Sid Wells life. According to a source who was part of their inner CU circle and now a Boulder businessman “Wells was trying to get away from Smika who was crazy. Noone could figure out why Sid would want to hang out with Thayne who was not at CU. It was the cocaine pure and simple. But I didn’t like the guy….he was a scumbag..”the source said.

Smika shot Sid Wells with a shotgun. Because the case was so convoluted, the DA at the time found it difficult to file charges which infuriated The Wells family and led to a nasty attack on the Boulder DA office.

Robert Redford who himself is a 1955 CU graduate with friends in Boulder was also vocally not happy. But according to sources in the Boulder DA’s office at the time , Wells and Smika well heavily involved in drugs and crime. Ballistics on the shotgun were difficult although there were bloody clothes found and everything led to Smika. Over the past decade Boulder PD has issued statements that they wanted to talk to Smika… as though he would turn himself in. No he was long gone and disappeared off the face of the earth. This new warrant on Smika may put him a little higher on police radar worldwide, but if Smika has evaded police for 14 years, don’t expect an arrest anytime soon.

This was the first big Boulder Police and DA screw up  years before the JonBenet Ramsey case hit and missed. Long time Boulder residents remember it all. But it is all news to our social media kids who read this blog. The Ramsey case again put the DA and cops at odds, but the Sid Wells murder case really split the cops and DA’s office. The filing of charges puts  both DA and Police working together. However, let us not forget that  DA Stan Garnett  took the Ramsey case out of the DA’s office and gave it back to the police where it belonged the whole time.

jonbenet 81

What did Burke Ramsey do ? see? or Know? Who is this girl friend that looks exactly like his sister JonBenet.

Boulder police have wanted to talk to Burke Ramsey who is now in his 20′s. Though former DA Mary Lacy cleared John and Patsy Ramsey, the new DA Garnett undid that in short order. There has always been suspicion on the entire Ramsey family over at Boulder PD as well as with Alex Hunter the original DA on the Smika and Ramsey case. They both rejected the intruder theory put forth by assistant DA Tripp Demuth. That got Demuth fired.

We may see a whole turn of events on both the Smika and Ramsey case: right or wrong. Boulder DAs office and the Police department have tarnished reputations over the Sid Wells and  JonBennet murder cases. They want these murders solved like no other.  Below is the PD official press release concerning Smika. Boulder police obtain arrest warrant in 1983 homicide
The Boulder Police Department has obtained a warrant for the arrest of a longtime suspect in the homicide of Sid Wells, who was shot in the head and found in his home in the 800 block of 29th Street on Aug. 1, 1983. The warrant orders the arrest of Thayne Smika, who was one of Wells’ roommates at the time of the crime. The charge is first-degree murder. Bail has been set at $5 million.

The warrant was issued by a Boulder District Court judge in December and unsealed this afternoon, Thursday, Jan. 13, after police efforts to locate Smika were unsuccessful. Smika, born Feb. 27, 1959, disappeared from the local area in 1986, and his current whereabouts remain unknown. There are some indications that he may have fled to another country and assumed a new identity.

“The Boulder Police Department has been committed to solving this case since the day it happened,” said Boulder Police Chief Mark Beckner, “and we are pleased that a judge has looked at the evidence that has been compiled over 27 years and agreed that Thayne Smika should stand trial.”

Beckner noted that the warrant is the initial step in what is likely to be a long process. The chief urged anyone with information about Smika or his whereabouts anytime since 1986 to contact detectives through a voicemail hotline at 303-441-1974.

“We are asking for the public’s assistance in determining this individual’s current location so that we can bring him back to Colorado to be held accountable for the death of Sid Wells,” Beckner said. “Even information that appears to be outdated may be of help to this ongoing investigation.”

The Boulder Police Department has worked closely with the District Attorney’s Office, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation on this case.

“We appreciate the support of our fellow law enforcement agencies. They have helped with the forensic analysis of available evidence and in attempting to locate the suspect,” Beckner said. “We also appreciate the cooperation of witnesses who stepped forward when the crime occurred and those who have spoken with investigators more recently. We know they share our commitment to resolving this case on behalf of Sid Wells and his family.”

A copy of the affidavit is available through the courts. A copy of a 1983 booking mug and three artist renditions of how Smika might look today are attached to this release.
