Police ask for public’s assistance in locating missing woman

Boulder police are seeking assistance locating a woman whomissing person.jpg has been missing since yesterday afternoon. Yvonne Barnett, 64, left her home in the Mapleton Hill neighborhood at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and withdrew a modest amount of cash from an ATM at 6 p.m. She did not return home last night. This morning, on Wednesday, Oct. 20, shortly before 8 a.m., Barnett phoned her husband and said she was laying down in a field somewhere. She reported that she could hear traffic but could not see any homes in the area.

Police have worked to try to track the cell phone signal. There is some indication she may be in the Nederland area, but investigators say the data is not entirely reliable and that she could be in another location entirely. She has not called her husband back since then and is no longer answering her telephone.

Barnett has a history of wandering away from home and becoming disoriented. Police have no reason to suspect foul play. However, it appears the missing woman may have spent the night outdoors and officers are concerned about her well-being.

Officers are asking anyone who has seen Barnett since yesterday afternoon, to please call dispatch immediately at 303-441-3333. Her photograph is attached to this release.
