Seth Brigham “m-fs” #Boulder city council again: Police called. No arrests
Boulder Colorado November 3, 7:00pm According to eyewitness report by Boulder channel 1 city beat correspondent Rob Smoke, Seth Brigham caused quite a scene at City Council again tonight. What set him off was a placard the city put on the city council chambers wall on Code of conduct. The code of conduct was installed because Seth has repeatedly berated council members on issues such as, code of conduct “free speech”, nudity. homeless, public access tv. Brigham was awarded a $10,000 dollar settlement from the city last month on free speech violations. City council wrongly had Brigham arrested for criticizingly the council.
Brigham has been singled out as has Jann Scott Editor of Boulder channel 1 for publicly lambasting the council in print and video. Because of criticism of council and former mayor Shaun McGrath, the council implanted police officers at all boulder city council meetings.
Both Scott and Brigham were removed from public access TV by city council in 2007. The city shut down the entire channel to just shut them up. They have now returned to Educational access TV BV22 where they are heralded as heros by Boulder Valley School distict.
According to Boulder Police department; Police were called to city council chambers by city staff when Brigham started cursing out city staff for putting up a code of conduct. According to Rob smoke; three police officers came into city council chambers, but did not attempt to quiet or arrest Brigham. During public comment Brigham got into a verbal fight with Mayor Susan Osborne over the posted code rule which Brigham says is Illegal. He says they were never voted on.
According to former city attorney Ariel Callone ” City council Chambers is by law a threshold of free speech and you can pretty much say anything you want there. You cannot be arrested for it. You can be removed but you cannot be permantly removed and the city cannot censor what you say .” The city is clearly trying to intimidate people to speak civilly without a legal leg to stand on. Boulder police told Boulder Channel 1 news “that no police action was taken and they consider the situation resolved.”
Rob Smoke said that “Seth went after city staff with a vengeance of hostile words calling them robots, fucking fascists, Nazis and trying to subvert the first amendment”
Seth had been drinking 3 shot margaritas at the Rio prior to the meeting. Limit at the Rio is three margaritas which is approximate 9 oz of 80 proof tequila. That is over serving by anyones estimation.

I must say the reporting on this is suspect.
It's true, I blew my cool when I saw rules of conduct posted despite the fact the City Council has never agreed upon any set of “decorum rules.”
I interrupted an informal meeting, being in the moment, upset by the actions of City Staff, City Management, City Council?
Who decided to forgo the public process, public comment, as was promised on this supposed future Agenda item???
One of the rules posted was “no personal attacks,” which is an unconstitutional provision, clearly illegal and what started all this in the first place, when criticism of council members was somehow perceived as a “personal attack.”
The point is, the rules are not there to protect city officials and/or residents, they are posted in an attempt to control the speech and intimidate the speaker, manipulate the “message.”
I was not at the Rio prior to the meeting, but, the Chophouse; two beers and a shot of whiskey…
Don't arrest me for it!
