CU police: Sex assault suspect sketch released
0The University of Colorado Boulder Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying the suspect involved in an attempted sex assault. A composite sketch of the suspect is attached. Through interviews with the victim, UCPD has also been able to identify a more specific location and time of the incident. UCPD believes the attempted sex assault occurred between 11:15 to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013, near Broadway and Pleasant Street.

Boulder police arrest sex assault suspect; are concerned there may be more victims

Boulder police, with the assistance of the Evans Police Department, arrested George Osonau Tiba (DOB 1/5/1965) at his home in Evans, CO on March 21, 2013. Tiba is charged with two counts of Sexual Assault, one count of Second Degree Burglary and one count of Theft. He was taken to the Weld County Jail and is being held there on $50,000 bond.
Tiba has been under investigation for a sex assault which occurred in Boulder on Feb. 17, 2013, sometime between the hours of 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. The victim is a 22-year-old female. The assault occurred at the victim’s home on 11th St.
She told police she met Tiba for the first time while she was out with friends earlier in the evening (March 20) at the Walrus, located at 1911 11th St. The victim also told police that the suspect stole cash and other items from her home after the assault.
Friends of the victim told investigators they believed that the suspect had been watching for potential victims at the Walrus, because he immediately approached the victim when she arrived with her group of friends. They believe the suspect targeted the victim, even though she attempted to disengage herself from him several times during the evening.
Because of Tiba’s behavior on the evening of the assault and because of some past incidents involving Tiba, police are concerned that he may have victimized others who have not yet reported the incidents to investigators.
This case number is 13-2212.

0Suspect in sex assault arrested in Hawaii
Boulder police detectives investigating an alleged sexual assault have issued an arrest warrant for Nicholas Philip Foti (DOB 12/12/1991). Foti was arrested yesterday, Dec. 20, 2012 in Honolulu, HI where he was visiting family. Foti was scheduled to make an initial appearance today in Hawaii. Extradition to Colorado is pending.
Foti is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old female in September 2012. The assault was not immediately reported. The attack took place at her home, which is located in the 900 block of 12th Street.

The victim told police that she was home alone during the early-morning hours of Sept.15, 2012, when Foti and another male entered her residence without her permission, looking for one of the victim’s roommates, with whom Foti was acquainted.
The victim says Foti sexually assaulted her when he realized she was by herself. Police believe the other male witnessed the attack.
According to the victim, Foti and the other male called her numerous obscenities during the incident. Before leaving the residence, they vandalized the kitchen and smashed a bicycle.
The case number is 12-15382.
Foti’s bond has been set at $50,000 in Boulder. He faces one charge of Sexual Assault, one charge of Unlawful Sexual Contact and one charge of First Degree Burglary. Boulder police and the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office are working with Honolulu police to extradite Foti back to Boulder.
Foti is currently on probation because of his involvement in the brutal beating death of a raccoon in November 2011.

Boulder police: Kidnapping & sex assault suspect arrested

Boulder police have arrested Leif Goehringer (DOB 05/11/1965) on several charges stemming from an alleged kidnapping and sexual assault case was reported to have occurred on Sept. 7, 2012, sometime between the hours of 1:45 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
The 26-year-old female victim is acquainted with Goehringer. She told police the two of them had gone out together during the evening, and then argued when she wanted to go home. She says she asked Goehringer to drive her to her home. According to the victim, Goehringer forced her into a van in the 900 block of Gillaspie Drive and then sexually assaulted her inside the van.
The victim tried to escape, but says Goehringer caught up to her as she was running down the street.
Detectives arrested Goehringer today, Sept. 11, 2012 with the help of the Broomfield Police Department.
Goehringer faces two charges of Sexual Assault, one charge of Unlawful Sexual Contact with Force, Second Degree Kidnapping, Menacing, Third Degree Assault and Domestic Violence. He is being held without bond.
The case number is 12-12268.

Boulder police continue to investigate an alleged sex assault that took place on July 16, 2011, around 4:30 a.m. in the area of 28th and Baseline.
The victim was 18 years old at the time of the attack, and she was walking alone along the 28th St. frontage road. She told police she was grabbed from behind and then sexually assaulted. Her arm, which was previously broken, was broken again during the assault.
Police are looking for the suspect, who is a light-skinned black male with green eyes and glasses. He is described as being between 18 and 22 years old, 6’0” tall with a medium build. He wore his hair in a 3-inch long light brown afro, and may have had a pick in his hair. At the time of the assault, he wore a purple shirt with neon green lettering, and khaki pants.

Police are also looking for a possible witness to the assault. According to the victim, a blonde, white male in his 20’s may have been walking by at the time of the attack, and may have seen or heard the incident. He may not have realized that a sexual assault was taking place.
Police would like to talk to this potential witness, and are asking him to come forward. Police are also continuing to try to identify the suspect.
The case number is 11-8876.

Boulder police investigate possible kidnap/sexual assault Sunday
0On Sunday morning, July 29th, at 4:14 a.m., police responded to a report of a kidnap/sexual assault. This incident started in the area of the Boulderado Hotel, 13th and Spruce Street, around bar close at 2:00 a.m. when the victim was grabbed and forced into a dark blue SUV reported as either a Ford Explorer or Expedition. She was reportedly driven to an unknown residence in the area of 17th and University where she was sexually assaulted.
After the assault, she was able get away from her captors and ran to 28th and Arapahoe where she contacted a friend who called police.
There are two different suspects described by the victim:
Suspect #1 is a white male, believed to be in his 40’s, approximately 6-feet-03, described as having a big gut. His hair cut was described as “buzzed.” He was last seen without a shirt and described as having a very hairy chest.
Suspect #2 is a white male, believed to be in his 40’s, shorter than the first suspect, but described as tall. (The victim is very short.) He was described as skinny. It was noted that he had very blue eyes. The victim will be working with a police composite artist in the next few days.
Police are looking for any witnesses that may have observed the suspects prior to the incident, or forcing the victim into the SUV in the area of 13th and Spruce.
The case number for this incident is 12-10138.

Boulder police are investigating an alleged sexual assault that was reported to have happened in the 1100 block of 9th St. on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at approximately 3:29 a.m.
The victim told police that she was walking home alone when she was grabbed from behind and attacked by an unknown male. She says the male sexually assaulted her, but that the attacker fled after she screamed and fought with him.
She went to a nearby home and asked for help. The resident at that home told officers that he’d heard someone scream, which woke him up. He went outside to investigate and saw the victim outside the residence, and then called police.
The victim could not describe her attacker, so police cannot provide a description.
The case number is 12-9007 and is under investigation.

Sheriff’s Office recruiting volunteers to provide assistance to victims of crime, trauma
0Boulder County, Colo. – The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers to serve as Victim Advocates – individuals who work with local law enforcement officials to provide assistance to victims of crime, accidents, trauma, and critical events.
A free 40-hour training course prepares volunteers for this important role. The curriculum consists of topics such as victim rights, crisis intervention, listening skills, grief and loss, domestic violence and sexual assault.
The training will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Saturdays from Oct. 25 through Nov. 12. The deadline to apply is Friday, Oct. 7.
No prior experience is necessary. Volunteers must be at least 21, live in Boulder County, and have a reliable vehicle, insurance and valid driver’s license. A one-year commitment is required. The program is especially in need of bilingual applicants.
Working as a Victim Advocate offers the opportunity to touch the lives of others by providing a valuable source of support and information for people in the community who have had their worlds altered by traumatic events. Volunteers are “first responders” and typically cover one shift a month which can be during days, nights or on weekends.

Boulder police identify person of interest in weekend sexual assault case
0Boulder police are continuing to investigate a sexual assault that reportedly took place in the early-morning hours of Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011. Detectives have identified a person of interest in this case; the man is known to several of the residents where the assault allegedly took place. Police are conducting interviews to determine the roles of the various people involved. The person of interest is cooperating with investigators.
Around 2:30 Saturday morning, the 20-year-old victim told police that she had fallen asleep on a couch at a friend’s place in the 1100 block of Grandview. She said she awoke to an unknown male attempting to remove her clothing, and that he was sexually assaulting her. The victim told police she ran away from the male and asked other people in the home for help, who called police.
Initially, it was believed that the male may have entered through an unlocked door. Because the person of interest is known to the home’s residents, police are still trying to determine whether this is the case.
Investigators do not believe there is any risk to the public at this time.

0On Saturday August 6, 2011, at approximately 2:30 a.m., police were called to the 1100 block of Grandview on a sexual assault report. The 20-year-old victim told investigators that she was sleeping on the couch in an apartment and awoke to the suspect sexually assaulting her. She got up and went to another part of the apartment to call for help and the male left the apartment. The suspect is believed to have gained access to the apartment through an unlocked door. The victim did not sustain any life-threatening physical injuries.
The suspect is a white male, described as a little older than “college-age,” believed to be around 25 years old, approximately 6-feet tall with a medium build. He has medium-brown hair, wavy to curly, over his ears. The suspect was wearing only a yellow T-shirt with possibly green lettering on the front. He appeared to be intoxicated or on drugs.

Police release sketch of early-morning sex assault suspect
Police in Boulder are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect allegedly involved in an early-morning sex assault near the area of 28th and Baseline Saturday morning.
A sketch of the suspect is attached. The victim in the attack describes the suspect as a light-skinned black male with glasses and green eyes. He is about 6’0” tall with a medium build. He has a three-inch long light brown afro, and may have been wearing a pick in his hair. At the time of the assault he was wearing a purple shirt with neon-green lettering, along with khaki pants.
The victim is an 18-year-old resident of Boulder. She was walking alone to a fast-food restaurant along the 28th Street frontage road at about 4:30 Saturday morning. She heard footsteps and was grabbed from behind, and then was sexually assaulted. The victim’s arm had been broken several weeks ago, and it was broken again during the assault.
After the assault, the victim went to a nearby business to ask for help and call police. She was treated at a hospital, and has been released.
Police remind residents to take safety precautions if they are out late at night:
- Never walk alone. Walk in pairs or groups, especially during late-night or early-morning hours.
- Stay in well-lit areas and avoid alleys or other areas which are poorly lit.
- Carry a cell phone, and make sure it’s easily accessible.
- Report crimes immediately and call police if you see anything that looks suspicious.

Boulder police seek information about sexual assault suspect
The Boulder Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a sexual assault suspect.
The incident occurred in the early-morning hours of July 2nd between 1:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. The victim told police she was standing at a bus stop in the 1100 block of Walnut when she was approached by the suspect. She asked the suspect for help getting a drink of water.
The two walked east on Walnut to Conor O’Neill’s pub, where they sat on the patio for several minutes. They then returned to the bus stop and the suspect led the victim to a stairwell in the northwest corner of the Randolph Center parking garage, where the assault occurred. The victim then ran across Walnut and approached a group of people and asked for help getting a ride home.
The victim spoke to several people between the bar and the parking garage, and Boulder Police would like to speak to anyone who had contact with the victim or suspect during that time.
The suspect is described as:
*Black male
*Early-to- mid 20’s
*5’7” to 5’8” tall
*Medium build and described as “fit”
*Wearing a white crew neck t-shirt, white “do-rag” and dark pants
*May have told the victim he was from the east coast

Boulder police investigate attempted sexual assault
0On Tuesday, May 24, at 12:30 a.m., police responded to the area of 20th Street and Canyon Boulevard on a report of an attempted sexual assault. A male suspect followed a lone female to this area before he pulled her to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her. The female screamed and the male fled in an unknown direction.
The suspect is a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet to 5 feet, 2 inches tall, and about 180 pounds with a heavy build. He was described as having short dark hair and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He spoke both English and Spanish with a noticeable accent.
The suspect may have an injury to the right side of his face due to being struck by the victim.

Boulder police investigate reported sexual assault
0Boulder police are investigating the report of a sexual assault between midnight and 1 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, in the area of University Hill. A female University of Colorado student told friends that she was approached by one to three males in a white sedan and sexually assaulted while walking from a party in the 900 block of University Avenue. One of the friends reported the incident to police. Investigators have spoken with the victim, but she has been unable to provide detailed information about what occurred.
At this time, the only description of the suspect(s) is that they are males. There is no other identifying information on the suspect(s) or the white sedan. Police are attempting to locate where this occurred and are asking members of the public who may have information about this case to contact detectives.
“We are at the very early stages of this investigation and there is considerable work that still needs to be done; however, we are releasing the information we know at this time to notify our community and seek the public’s assistance,” said Police Chief Mark Beckner. “I encourage anyone with information about this investigation to contact detectives immediately.”
