Puppies get the pool for 10 days

Dog Dayz dog swim offered at Scott Carpenter Pool Sept. 16 to Sept. 29
The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department will host Dog Dayz (dog swimming) from Sept. 16 through Sept. 29 at Scott Carpenter Pool, 1505 30th St.
Scott Carpenter Pool will close for public swimming on Sunday, Sept. 15. From Sept. 16 through Sept. 29, the pool will be open for dogs to swim and play. The cost is $5 per dog, per session, or $35 for unlimited entries for up to two dogs during the 2013 Dog Dayz season. Additional unlimited entries after two dogs will be $10 per dog.
A Dog Expo featuring dog-friendly products, vendors and organizations will also be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the pool. The pool will be open for dog swimming, and organizations from around the county will be on hand with samples, prizes and information.
Spruce Pool remains open for public (human) swimming through Labor Day, Sept. 2.

N. Boulder rec center to be closed from Aug. 24 to Sept. 1

The North Boulder Recreation Center (NBRC), located at 3170 Broadway, will be closed for maintenance from Saturday, Aug. 24, through Sunday, Sept. 1. The recreation center will reopen on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Annual maintenance closures allow for deep cleaning, painting, and major repair and replacement projects at the recreation center.
On Saturday, Aug. 24, and Sunday, Aug. 25, the EBCC will be the only indoor lap pool open to the public due to an overlap of the South Boulder Recreation Center and NBRC annual maintenance closures. The Boulder Reservoir, Spruce Pool and Scott Carpenter Pool will be open during regular hours throughout the NBRC closure.
The North Boulder Recreation Center’s childcare hours will be relocated to the East Boulder Community Center (EBCC) Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The EBCC is offering additional hours on Saturdays and Sundays during the NBRC closure. The South Boulder Recreation Center’s dance, fitness and weight rooms will be open during normal hours beginning on Monday, Aug. 19. Visit www.boulderparks-rec.org for a full schedule.

Spruce Pool opens for the summer season May 13, Scott Carpenter pool delayed for “sprucing up”

The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department will open Spruce Pool for the summer season on Monday, May 13. Spruce Pool, located at 2102 Spruce St., features an eight-lane, 25-yard lap pool; leisure pool with accessible ramp; and accessible play features including jets, fountains and a duck slide. Spruce Pool starts the season with a more limited schedule, and regular summer hours will begin Tuesday, May 28. Spruce Pool’s season runs through Monday, Sept. 2, Labor Day.

The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department’s other outdoor pool, Scott Carpenter Pool, located at 1505 30th St., is being painted and prepared for the summer season. This work has been delayed due to recent rain and snowstorms, and Scott Carpenter Pool will now open after Memorial Day weekend. A specific opening date will be announced as soon as possible.
