Boulder Symphony, the Community Orchestra of Boulder County, is proud to present our fifth concert of the 2011-2012 season, “Transcendental Metamorphosis” at 7:00 pm Saturday, March 31st at First Presbyterian Church, Boulder. Boulder Symphony will collaborate with the dynamic modern music chamber ensemble, The Playground, in the World Premiere of Conrad Kehn’s Playgrosso Concerto for Playground and Orchestra. Boulder Symphony music director Devin Patrick Hughes will also conduct the orchestra in the Boulder Premiere of Arvo Part’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten; Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question; and the magnificent Symphony No. 4 in e minor by Johannes Brahms.

Boulder Symphony music director Devin Patrick Hughes will conduct the orchestra in the World Premiere piece Invisible Heros by composer Chip Michael; Handel’s Ch’io mai vi possa from Siroe; Gabrieli’s Sonata piano e’ forte; Shostakovich’s Concerto no. 2 in F Major featuring the winners of the Colorado State Music Teachers Association Concerto competition; and the magnificent Eroica Symphony No. 3 by Beethoven.

Also on the program is the beloved Gloria by Francis Poulenc, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Toward the Unknown Region, and Johannes Brahms’ Nanie.
