Arenados 26 Game Hitting Streak
May 8th
Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado extended his hitting streak to 26 games with a seventh-inning, run-scoring double off Rangers reliever Neal Cotts during the Rockies 12-1 victory at Coors Field on Tuesday.
The streak is the longest in Major League Baseball this season and is just one shy of Michael Cuddyer’s franchise-record streak of 27 games, which was set last season.
Arenado was 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a walk before lining the full-count pitch to left field. The ball splashed the chalk on the foul line, much to the delight of the 27,838 in attendance at Coors Field.
Arenado said he wasn’t putting much thought into the streak early in the game. But with the outcome in hand once he stepped up in the seventh, the 23-year-old conceded he felt some pressure.
Arenado’s hit was the 21st of the night for the Rockies, a season-high.
