dodgers MaholmDogers Paul Maholm and Rockies Juan Nicasio bring contrasting histories into their meeting at Dodger Stadium on Saturday night in the second of three games between the National League West rivals.

Maholm (0-2, 5.60 ERA) has had little success against the Rockies in his career. He is 1-8 with a 6.63 ERA in 10 career starts against them.

At least his last start was a while ago. He was with the Pirates on April 30, 2011, when he gave up four runs on seven hits, struck out three, walked three and threw 101 pitches in seven innings of a 4-1 loss at Coors Field.

Nicasio (2-0, 4.30 ERA) threw three times against the Dodgers last season — all at Dodger Stadium and all Rockies victories. As for Nicasio, he was 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA.

Nicasio’s active 13 1/3-inning scoreless streak at Dodger Stadium is the fourth-longest such run at the stadium, behind the Mets’ Kyle Farnsworth (15 2/3 innings), the Phillies’ Cliff Lee (14) and the Blue Jays’ R.A. Dickey (13 2/3).

Last year was his first taste of success against the Dodgers. He is 3-2 with a 3.67 ERA in eight starts against them.

Rockies: CarGo has hit before …

Since hitting .375 during a 10-game hit streak to start the season, Carlos Gonzalez is 6-for-45 (.133) over his last 12 games — including Friday night’s 0-for-5.

After a flareup of left knee tendinitis on Sunday, Gonzalez played Monday and Tuesday, then rested Wednesday and the team’s day off on Thursday. Earlier in the slump, there was an inordinate number of hard-hit balls. Friday, there were four soft grounders to the right side of the infield and a fly ball to right.

Manager Walt Weiss figures Gonzlaez has hit before, and he’ll do so again.
