Boulder protesters HATE SPEECH on Boulder police: Jann Scotts Journal
Jan 3rd
Boulder anti police protesters target Boulder Police Department. Well that’s just swell.
with Hate graffiti “cops lives don’t matter”.
When we covered the protests with the “Ferguson to Boulder” protests we noticed a lot of hatred toward Boulder police . This was unwarranted hatred and outrage. This is an insult to our entire community. Protesters need to find out which of their members did this and turn them in to the police. They need to be punished for this we as a community will not stand for anarchist protesters targeting our police officers.
These protesters are primarily Naropa students, CU students, young communists anarchists mostly rich white kids with fashionable clothes. I interviewed some of them. A lot of them are from cities like Chicago. These are not longtime Boulder citizens. these are kids who came to boulder for the liberal politics and nature and dope.
What they don’t understand is that the Boulder Police department is a well trained, restrained police department …. It is one of the best in the USA when it comes to community relations. These protesters have been trying to start fights with Boulder PD. I witnessed it myself. Of course Boulder has a history of demonstrations and that is fine. But boulder PD is the best in the nation at monitoring protests.

Beth Haynes, remembering: Jann Scotts Journal
Oct 23rd
Remembering Beth Haynes for a completely different reason than the award , her death or domestic violence:
Here is the dilemma. it is the same today as it was the day (night) Boulder Police Officer Beth Haynes was gunned down. I am talking about fire power; stopping power; overwhelming force to stop the threat.
Beth Haynes had a 9mm… She shot her attacker 3 times but he kept coming until he got right over her and assassinated her. Would a 12 gauge Mossberg with a10 inch barrel have helped?? Are Boulder police now instructed to carry a shotgun when they go into a domestic violence situation.? What about handguns.? Common knowledge knows that 9 millimeter is a useless gun. 38 does not have enough rounds. Nor any revolver has enough rounds these days. A 45 caliber is too unwieldy. A 40 caliber Beretta is the FBI gun of choice. What does boulder PD issue?. The Beretta has good knock down power. It is also the handgun issued to our Marines in Afghanistan. I will tell you that that hand gun saved my sons life while in the Marines Battle for Falujia in 2003. More than once.
But lets take the situation in Ferguson Mo. Where the Officer was attacked by Michael Brown in his car. Brown was 18, 250 lbs football player, on drugs, had just committed a robbery. when the Ferguson police officer contacted Brown, Brown charge the officer , attacked him in his car. The officer got off two rounds in the car hitting Brown who then retreated.
Then the officer made nearly the same fatal mistake Beth Haynes made. He confronted an enraged Brown with a hand gun. Brown charged the Ferguson officer again and the officer put 6 more rounds into Brown. The final one went through the top of his head as Brown lunged at the officer That was the stopping round. 9 shots into Michael Brown. But it took 9 shots. 9 shots from a 9 millimeter.
Should the officer have had a shotgun at the ready? I am quite frankly worried for the safety of our police officers when they go into a one on one situation with an enraged attacker.
I am already on the record as saying, that I do not think much of police work is suitable for women. They are no match in a physical contest with most men. Especially, young enraged men. Had that been a women police officer in Ferguson , she would be dead now and Michael Brown would be pleading his innocence… But if you look at injuries to police officers on boulder PD , the majority are female police officers.
Just sayin all of it.
And I realize there are millions of Americans who think Michael Brown was shot dead in cold blood…….. I am not so sure about that. I have been a reporter for too long and seen too much gang crime by young black gangsters…. all of whom were good kids… on some days….. and other days were violent young men hell bent on killing someone.
from Boulder cops should be well armed and protected at all times

How the Boulder Police handle Riots and demonstrations; Jann Scott’s Journal
Aug 15th
We are so lucky to live in Boulder. When it comes to big events, football games, demonstrations and all out riots you could not ask for a better Police Department. I am serious about this. There are those few crazy anarchist who hate all police but forget about them.
Look at any CU Buffs football game day. 50 thousand drunken fans party it up all over our city and and Boulder PD is as cool as can be. When we had Kinetics at the Res. 50,000 people would party all day and never a bit of trouble. When the Mall Crawl was in full blast in the late 80’s , 100,000 people would trash the city and Boulder PD maintained.
In 1995, 96 and 97 CU students rioted for fun, nearly burned the hill down and injured 60 Boulder Police officers. 3 injuries were career ending with zero injuries to students. Unbelievable. Then Police Chief Tom Koby called the 1997 riots so extreme that use of deadly force was required but he would not allow it. Students were trying to kill police officers. It was a student riot all over they wanted to get drunk and burn the hill. Seriously, that is what it was about.
The college kids really went off the deep end that year with alcohol. The tried to burn buildings down, stoned the police, set fires all over the hill, threw molotov cocktails at fire fighters. I was there. It was not funny.
Boulder PD attends weekly protests all over the city by leftist groups and they do a fine job of letting things be.
Of course they have decades of experience and lots of training. In the late 60’s things were rough here when students shut down the city over the Vietnam War, but all and all We do well.
What is interesting is we are a community 95% white and rich by by all standards, yet we have many many civil rights protests all over the city. Some lefty white kids can be pretty Agro, but Boulder PD always holds the moral high ground.
