Incident Type: Structure Fire
St. Johns County Fire Rescue (SJCFR) responded to a structure fire early Thursday morning
involving multiple units at the Ocean Villas condominium complex at 850 A1A Beach Blvd. in St. Augustine Beach. Initial arriving crews initiated an aggressive fire attack after finding smoke and flames showing from a single unit. The main body of the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes. Firefighters then extinguished smaller pockets of fire that spread to several adjoining units. A total of 16 SJCFR fire suppression, rescue and command units battled the fire, along with a Ladder truck from the St. Augustine Fire Department.
One adult occupant of the condominium complex was treated by paramedics on scene and transported to Flagler Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No further details regarding the patient’s injuries or condition were available at the time of this release.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and is the subject of an investigation by SJCFR and the State Fire Marshals Office.

October Is A Flavorful Time to Visit Florida’s Historic Coast
0October is here and chefs on Florida’s Historic Coast are making culinary history with signature dishes featuring local favorites and heritage-inspired flavors.
Called Flavors of Florida’s Historic Coast, this special program offers unique, delicious and affordably-priced dining choices. Nearly 20 outstanding restaurants are featuring a prix fixe (fixed price) three-course dinner that will showcase their chef’s best culinary skills. Great food, paired with a wide variety of lodging options and enticing cultural events make October an ideal time to experience the history, romance and charm of St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra and the Beaches.
A part of the Spanish Empire for far longer than it has been included in the United States, Florida’s Historic Coast offers a unique culinary heritage resulting from a centuries-old cultural diversity that continues today. Spanish roots, spiced with Minorcan flair and blended with the very best in traditional Southern coastal cuisine create a palate-pleasing culinary collection that intrigues and pleases both “foodies” and folks who simply want to enjoy a memorable meal in a beautiful locale.
In addition to the tantalizing daily creations offered by participating restaurants, The Flavors Top Chef Cook-Off, a benefit for Home Again St. Johns,
is set for October 12 at the beautiful Renaissance Resort World Golf Village Resort. This exciting competition will feature Flavors chefs who will conjure up their signature dishes for a panel of celebrity judges who will select the Best of the Best. In addition, everyone in attendance will sample the prix fixe dinners featured during Flavors. Ballots submitted by attendees will result in the selection of the Flavors People’s Choice Award! Sponsored by the Villagio Italian Grill at the Renaissance, proceeds from the event will go to support Home Again St. Johns, the organization primarily responsible for meeting the needs of the homeless in St. Johns County.
And, while dining in any one of the participating Flavors Restaurants during October 7 – 12, $1 from each order off the Flavors menu will go toward supporting the work of Home Again St. Johns.
Participating Flavors of Florida’s Historic Coast restaurants are located from elegant Ponte Vedra southward through Vilano, World Golf Village, St. Augustine, St. Augustine Beach and on to laid-back Crescent Beach. They include:

Summer evenings combine music and history / Local events
0
and so it is here on Florida’s Historic Coast. In addition to big name events like the Aaron Neville concert coming to the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, small-stage free concerts have become some of the most enjoyable activities for both locals and visitors during the summer months.
Every Wednesday evening brings a wonderful Concert By the Sea in St. Augustine Beach, and Thursday nights feature the great Concert in the Plaza series in downtown St. Augustine. Nearly every genre is included – rock, pop, country, bluegrass; jazz, reggae, big band – there’s even Hawaiian pop.
They say this part of Florida has something for everyone, and that’s definitely the case when it comes to summer music.
