Ideas and Images Present Artist Liz Rodda – The Crisp-Ellert Art Museum at Flagler College will host works of multi-media artist Liz Rodda, who uses sculpture and video as a means to investigate our notions of fate, personal control and the future. Sea Your History Weekend: Tap Into Your Past – Friday from 3-6 p.m., St. Augustine Lighthouse archaeologists unlock the secrets of long-lost shipwrecks and take visitors behind the scenes on the Lost Ships Tour. Beginning Saturday at 9 a.m., work with traditional wooden boatbuilders to build a boat from centuries gone by. From 2- 4 p.m., there’s a book signing with Dr. Patrick McGovern from the University of Pennsylvania. Then beginning at 5, Dr. McGovern will present his story “Uncorking the Past.” He will explain how he used molecular biology to re-construct King Midas’ funerary feast. Expedition Florida 500 – Stand up paddle boarder and Mother Ocean CEO Justin Riney arrives at 3 p.m. in St. Augustine as part of his Expedition Florida 500, a year-long, one-man voyage along the coast of Florida to celebrate the state’s 500th anniversary. From 2 to 4 p.m., stand up paddlers, kayakers and canoeists are welcome to join Justin as he enters Salt Run and continues to the St. Augustine Lighthouse Park. Then from 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a coastal clean-up at the Lighthouse Park area. On Tuesday at 10:45 a.m., Justin will arrive at the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, 11 Magnolia Ave., St. Augustine, where he will be greeted with a Marine Combat Landing Salute featuring drums, cannon and musket fire. The City of St. Augustine will present an official proclamation. Participation is free with regular admission. From 6 to 7 p.m., Flagler College will host of an evening “Question and Answer” panel discussion with Justin Riney, Flagler College marine scientists, and environmental educators at Kenan Hall 300 corner of Cordova St & Valencia St., St. Augustine. Lighthouse Dark of the Moon Tour – A special Thursday night tour added to the Lighthouse’s usual Friday-Sunday Dark of the Moon Tour. This is the only tour that gives participants an opportunity to climb the St. Augustine Lighthouse and tour the Keepers’ House at night.
