Wood & Landscape Art Exhibit – The Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach will host the works of Gene Roberds and Grant Ward. Grant specializes in turning wood and spinning metal vessels using a lathe. “Middle Passage” Commemoration – This special presentation from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the north lawn of the Castillo de San Marcos is part of a nationwide initiative to “remember the Africans who were brought to these shores by ships in bondage…more importantly…to commemorate those who did not survive this arduous trip we call the Middle Passage”. Expedition Florida 500 – Stand up paddle boarder and Mother Ocean CEO Justin Riney arrives at 3 p.m. in St. Augustine as part of his Expedition Florida 500, a year-long, one-man voyage along the coast of Florida to celebrate the state’s 500th anniversary. From 2 to 4 p.m., stand up paddlers, kayakers and canoeists are welcome to join Justin as he enters Salt Run and continues to the St. Augustine Lighthouse Park. Then from 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a coastal clean-up at the Lighthouse Park area. On Tuesday at 10:45 a.m., Justin will arrive at the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, 11 Magnolia Ave., St. Augustine, where he will be greeted with a Marine Combat Landing Salute featuring drums, cannon and musket fire. The City of St. Augustine will present an official proclamation. Participation is free with regular admission. From 6 to 7 p.m., Flagler College will host of an evening “Question and Answer” panel discussion with Justin Riney, Flagler College marine scientists, and environmental educators at Kenan Hall 300 corner of Cordova St & Valencia St., St. Augustine. Hotel Ponce De Leon Carrere & Hastings Blueprint Exhibit – In commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Ponce de Leon Hotel, historically and culturally significant ephemera relating to the construction and early years of the Hotel Ponce de Leon will be on display through February 22. This exhibit includes original Carrere and Hastings and McGuire drawings and blueprints, photographs, a copy of an 1885 map, and construction documents.
