52 Ways to Use Your Library Card Contest

September 1 to September 29 – Did you know your library card can be used for more than just checking out
books? The American Library Association came up with a list of 52 ways to use your library card! To celebrate
National Library Card Sign-Up Month this year we are challenging the teens and adults of St. Johns County to
help us come up with a local list. Stop by the library anytime during September to submit 1 to 52 ways you
have found to use your library card. The most unique ways will be compiled into a final list at the end of the
month. For each idea you submit that ends up on the final list, you may select a FREE book off our prize cart!

Yoga Experience

Patriot Day: From Book to Movie

Tuesday, September 11 @ 5:30 pm – (PG-13) Nine-year-old Oskar Schell has embarked on an urgent,
secret mission that will take him through the five boroughs of New York. His goal is to find the lock that
matches a mysterious key that belonged to his father, who died in the World Trade Center on the morning of
September 11. This seemingly impossible task will bring Oskar into contact with survivors of all sorts on an
exhilarating, affecting, often hilarious, and ultimately healing journey.

Gentle Yoga

Wednesday, September 12 & 26 @ 10:30 am – Gentle Yoga presents an introduction to basic yoga poses.
The class emphasizes stretching, coordination of breath with movement, and attention to alignment. The class
is designed to create breath awareness, enhance balance, and increase flexibility. Gentle Yoga is for people new
to yoga or those who are experiencing joint sensitivity or an overall stiffness due to lack of activity. Wear loose
clothing, bring a towel, and a yoga mat.

Peace Day Pinwheels for Peace

Friday, September 21 @ 4 pm – The International Day of Peace is devoted to commemorating and
strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples. This year we invite school age
children to realize a culture of peace with us by crafting paper peace pinwheels. The finished pinwheels will be
placed in the ground in front of the library to celebrate Peace Day. Enjoy peace snow cones while crafting or
watching the pinwheels spin together outside.
