Edwin Augustus Moore Special Exhibit at the Lightner Museum – The private collection of Edwin Augustus Moore paintings will be featured as a special exhibit at The Lightner Museum through May 1. Moore was an American painter, traveler, journalist, photographer and composer who used St. Augustine for many of his landscape watercolor subjects. He visited the ancient city in 1895 along with other members of his artistic and eccentric family. Hotel Ponce De Leon Carrere & Hastings Blueprint Exhibit – In commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the opening of the Ponce de Leon Hotel, historically and culturally significant ephemera relating to the construction and early years of the Hotel Ponce de Leon will be on display through February 22. This exhibit includes original Carrere and Hastings and McGuire drawings and blueprints, photographs, a copy of an 1885 map, and construction documents. Additionally, the exhibit highlights a group of artists who made the Hotel Ponce de Leon their seasonal home during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Original artwork and other artifacts related to their time in Saint Augustine will also be displayed at Flagler College’s Crisp – Ellert Art Museum, located at 48 Sevilla St.,

Hotel Ponce de Leon Studios Lecture – Dr. Roger Bradley presents a lecture titled “The ‘Robber Barons:’ Neither Robber Nor Barons.” The presentation is part of the commemorative events celebrating The 125TH Anniversary of the opening of Henry Flagler’s Ponce de Leon Hotel and takes place at 10 a.m. in the Flagler Room at the former Hotel Ponce De Leon 74 King St., St. Augustine. Tolomato Cemetery Guided Tour – The Tolomato Cemetery is the oldest extant planned cemetery in the State of Florida, with burials starting during the First Spanish Period (1565-1763). Visitor access is limited to the 3rd Saturday of each month when docents provide guided tours. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. A Day in Old Florida at Faver-Dykes State Park – Faver-Dykes State Park hosts living history demonstrations including pine needle basketry, a 1700s Trapper Trader Camp, blacksmithing, a Timucua Native American display, and a mullet net knitting. Features an activity center where children can paint a natural habitat, dig archaeology, play Native American games, and a palm frond activity. There will be scheduled nature hikes (11 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.) and Ranger led kayak tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.Reservations are required for the kayak tours and cost $10 per person (must be 12 years old or older). 26.2 with Donna – On Sunday, approximately 12,000 registered runners from all 50 states and more than 20 countries worldwide will participate in the 26.2 with Donna, a race that is a certified qualifier for the Boston Marathon. Exciting re-enactment commemorates the 1740 Battle of “Bloody Moosa” which forced the British to retreat from Spanish Florida. Gracia Real de Santa Teresa de Mose was the first Free Black settlement in North America. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. living history demonstrations, guided tours, food vendors, and music will be provided. Then, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. the Spanish and British forces will reenact the “Bloody Moosa” battle. The event is weather permitting. Greek Landing Day Festival

Celebrate the 244th anniversary of the arrival of the first colony of Greeks in North America. Hundreds of Greeks, Menorcans and Corsicans arrived in St. Augustine on June 26, 1768 and went on to establish the New Smyrna Colony. St. Photios Shrine serves as a memorial to those Greek colonists by witnessing the Orthodox Faith and promoting the Hellenic culture.
