Vandals break into more than a dozen cars; police seek suspects
Boulder police are investigating a series of vehicle trespasses that occurred during the overnight hours on Dec. 27 through Dec. 28 in four Boulder neighborhoods. In one case, a vehicle was stolen and later recovered in Denver.
The suspect or suspects broke into a total of 17 cars in three neighborhoods in North Boulder, and also in the University Hill area. In some instances, the vehicles were left unlocked. In other cases, the suspect/suspects smashed a window and then unlocked the door. They rummaged through glove boxes and center consoles, and stole items they could easily see.
Stolen items include wallets, purses, credit cards and small electronics.

Police are trying to identify the three people in the attached photos. They are considered persons of interest in these cases. (Case # 11-16678).
Anyone with information about this series of vehicle trespasses is asked to contact Detective Sarah Cantu at 303-441-4328. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous may contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776. On June 20th, 2010, at approximately 8:45 p.m., police responded to the trailhead in the 200 block of Dakota Blvd in North Boulder on a report of a female being attacked by a male with a knife.
The victim was hiking on the trail when the male approached her, brandishing a knife. As she attempted to move past him, the male grabbed her and began to assault her. She was able to fight him off and she called 911. The male was located in the area by police, and was positively identified by the victim.
Michael Gonzales-Davis, 25, of Boulder was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault (Criminal Attempt), Felony Menacing, and Assault in the Third Degree. Numerous other charges are pending, stemming from three other incidents that occurred on June 19th through June 20th, 2010. These charges include First Degree Burglary, Second Degree Burglary, Sexual Assault (Criminal Attempt), Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, False Imprisonment, and Indecent Exposure.
The case number for the current incident is 10-7694. Case numbers for previous incidents are 10-7655, 10-7666, and 10-7668. All cases are currently under investigation by the Boulder Police Department Detective Bureau, and no further information is available at this time.

Sarah Huntley will make herself available for on-camera interviews about the Sunday night trailhead attack and arrest at 3:45 p.m. TODAY in front of the Public Safety Building, 1805 33rd St. Please be advised that the previous incidents referenced in the press release did not involve trailheads or victims who were strangers. Those incidents were domestic in nature. Detectives are continuing to follow up on this case. No additional information will be released prior to the media availability this afternoon.
