Local Boulder act The Hippie Buckaroos performed an extended set of country and bluegrass tunes at a local Lafayette coffee joint. An afternoon rainshower and double rainbow kicked off the evening and The Hippie Buckaroos provided a relaxed atmosphere to sip coffee and just be. I didn't expect to catch this show, but I'm glad I was there to see them.

Tripping Griswolds at Band on the Bricks - July 25, 2012
To be honest, when I heard the opening riff to "Walking in Memphis," I thought to myself "well, here's yet another typical cover band." Oh, how wrong I was. This motley gang of six, known as Tripping Griswolds, put on a stellar show. Their performance was tight, flowing through the cover band mainstays like "Sweet Child of Mine" and "Don't Stop Believin'". I was pleasantly surprised when they put their own flavor on Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," it was a delight to see this goofy crew of gentlemen perform that song. They had the crowd on Pearl Street packed[READ|SHARE]

That 80's band plays 29th Street
That 80's Band kicks off Memorial Day weekend. Boulder Creek Event's first summer concert at 29th street in Boulder. What we witnessed was this great band doing covers of 80s music...like all of it...and they did it well. The audience was a new audience for Boulder too. A little cooler. Not so public and fun. That 80s band saw a big crowd who enjoyed their music. But most of all they did a good job of covering everything from Michael Jackson to the B-52s. Hats off and come back to Boulder soon.[READ|SHARE]

Band on Bricks opens season with Smash: Paper Bird
Several thousand people were on hand last night on the Pearl Street mall for the first Wednesday night Band on the Bricks concert of the summer. Paper Bird was frivolous, fun and mildly entertaining in a goofy kind of way. Not to be taken seriously as musicians ( they couldn't play) but they did spin their way through several folky, blue grassy, 1940's original tunes. Their focus is to "send up", make fun of and insult musical forms especially blue grass. Thusly, they are called underground.
Basically they were a bunch bums from Breckenridge( or at least[READ|SHARE]
