Band on Bricks opens season with Smash: Paper Bird
Jun 27th
Several thousand people were on hand last night on the Pearl Street mall for the first Wednesday night Band on the Bricks concert of the summer. Paper Bird was frivolous, fun and mildly entertaining in a goofy kind of way. Not to be taken seriously as musicians ( they couldn’t play) but they did spin their way through several folky, blue grassy, 1940’s original tunes. Their focus is to “send up”, make fun of and insult musical forms especially blue grass. Thusly, they are called underground.
Basically they were a bunch bums from Breckenridge( or at least they met in Breck according to their website) who formed a terrible garage band around 3 cute girls who managed to harmonize and Walla! a real authentic American underground band .
