Open house for proposed #Boulder Transit Center area improvements

The City of Boulder is evaluating a variety of options for multimodal transportation improvements to the Boulder Transit Center area on 14th Street, between Canyon Boulevard and Walnut Street (in and around the area where the current RTD transit center is located).
The public is invited to attend an open house on Monday, March 12, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building lobby, 1777 Broadway, to review a variety of concepts currently being considered as part of this project.
The project, which will be jointly funded by the City of Boulder Capital Improvement Bond and a Colorado Department of Transportation FASTER grant, has the following goals:
- Improve bus access, capacity and circulation;
- Improve pedestrian safety, access and experience;
- Enhance the streetscape and landscaping in the area;
- Enhance the transit passenger drop-off zone;
- Improve bicycle access and parking;
- Minimize impacts to automobile parking and circulation; and
- Improve the character and utility of the existing transit center.

This project is partially funded by the city’s Capital Improvement Bond, which is the result of a 2011 ballot item that voters approved, giving the city the authority to issue a bond to address significant deficiencies and high priority infrastructure improvements throughout Boulder. Boulder Symphony, the Community Orchestra of Boulder County, is proud to present our fifth concert of the 2011-2012 season, “Transcendental Metamorphosis” at 7:00 pm Saturday, March 31st at First Presbyterian Church, Boulder. Boulder Symphony will collaborate with the dynamic modern music chamber ensemble, The Playground, in the World Premiere of Conrad Kehn’s Playgrosso Concerto for Playground and Orchestra. Boulder Symphony music director Devin Patrick Hughes will also conduct the orchestra in the Boulder Premiere of Arvo Part’s Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten; Charles Ives’ The Unanswered Question; and the magnificent Symphony No. 4 in e minor by Johannes Brahms.

Boulder police: Bedroom sneak snatched laptop

Sketch of burglary suspect released; police caution residents about computer thefts
Boulder police are looking for a male suspect who entered a residence in the 1200 block of College Avenue and reportedly stole a laptop computer and jewelry from the residence. A composite sketch of the suspect is attached.
The burglary took place on Sunday, Feb. 26. A female victim told police she awoke to find an unknown male standing in her bedroom. When she asked him what he was doing there, he claimed that one of her roommates had told him he could stay there because he had been drinking. None of the victim’s roommates knew the suspect, who left the residence as the victim was attempting to find out who had allowed him to enter.
The suspect is a black male who is described as:
- In his early 20s
- 5’07” tall
- 160 pounds, medium build
- Clean shaven
- Shaved head
It appears the residence had been left unlocked.
Boulder police are investigating a number of burglaries in which residents have left their homes unlocked. Police remind residents to lock their doors, even if they’re only going to be gone for a little while. It’s also a good idea to keep curtains closed, so that prospective thieves can’t see into the home. There are a number of computer applications available that allow a laptop to be located through a GPS system, and police encourage laptop owners to sign up for or purchase this type of program.
