Backyard compost bin sale to be held June 21

SoilSaver bins will be available for $50 each including tax. Only checks and cash will be accepted. Bins will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. No early sales.

Cherryvale construction underway; significant delays expected

Boulder County, Colo. – The Boulder County Transportation Department has begun construction on Cherryvale Road between Arapahoe and Baseline roads.
Cherryvale is currently open to through traffic, with significant delays expected through August. Cyclists and motorists are encouraged to use detours on 55th and 75th streets to avoid delays.
Daytime road closures may become necessary to expedite certain phases of the road reconstruction and overlay. Any closures will be announced two weeks in advance.
Elements of the Cherryvale project include:
• Widening the roadway approximately 6 feet to improve safety and accessibility for bicycles and pedestrians
• Replacing road culverts to improve drainage
• Construction of a soft-surface pedestrian path on the west side of the road between Reserve Drive and Arapahoe Road
• Reconstruction and overlay of Cherryvale between Baseline and Arapahoe roads
• Reconstruction of Dimmit Drive with turn restrictions implemented at Gapter Road
• Restriping to provide 5-foot bike shoulders

Affordable housing funds available

The City of Boulder’s Department of Housing & Human Services, along with the Boulder-Broomfield Regional HOME Consortium, will issue a joint application for 2012 affordable housing funds on Friday, June 10, 2011. The application will be available at www.boulderaffordablehomes.com . Residents can also pick up a copy of the application on the second floor of 1101 Arapahoe Ave. in Boulder or call 303-441-3167 to request a copy.
Funding is available for projects that increase the supply and availability of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income households.
All applications are due by July 14, 2011 at 4 p.m. No late applications will be accepted.
