Arenados 26 Game Hitting Streak
May 8th
Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado extended his hitting streak to 26 games with a seventh-inning, run-scoring double off Rangers reliever Neal Cotts during the Rockies 12-1 victory at Coors Field on Tuesday.
The streak is the longest in Major League Baseball this season and is just one shy of Michael Cuddyer’s franchise-record streak of 27 games, which was set last season.
Arenado was 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly and a walk before lining the full-count pitch to left field. The ball splashed the chalk on the foul line, much to the delight of the 27,838 in attendance at Coors Field.
Arenado said he wasn’t putting much thought into the streak early in the game. But with the outcome in hand once he stepped up in the seventh, the 23-year-old conceded he felt some pressure.
Arenado’s hit was the 21st of the night for the Rockies, a season-high.

Rockies vs Mets
May 1st
The Rockies have a winning record at Coors Field this season, and they are trying to put their road woes in the rearview mirror.
The Rockies are 8-4 at home entering Thursday’s series opener against the Mets. They are 8-8 in their first 16 road games of the season. Last season, the Rockies finished 45-36 at home and 29-52 on the road.
So far, the strategy has worked, and it will be up to starter Juan Nicasio to add to Colorado’s win total when he takes the mound on Thursday. In his last outing, Nicasio struggled with his fastball and gave up eight hits, two home runs and five runs in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Dodgers. In his last two games, he’s worked just 9 1/3 innings and has a loss and a no-decision.
Because of Wednesday’s rainout in Philadelphia, the Mets will shift their rotation back one day, pushing right-hander Bartolo Colon, who was scheduled to start Wednesday’s game, to Thursday. Colon will be followed by Zack Wheeler, Jenrry Mejia and Dillon Gee in the four-game series.
More than half of Colon’s runs allowed came in one start, and that’s a big reason why his ERA sits at 4.50. He holds a 2.33 ERA with 23 strikeouts and one walk in his other four outings.
The Mets are 7-3 on the road this season.

Denver – Rockies are 11-10
Apr 22nd
The Rockies have only had six better starts in franchise history. Thanks to an 8-2 win against the Giants on Monday night at Coors Field, combined with the Dodgers getting beat by Philadelphia, the Rockies are just a half-game back of the second-place Giants and 1 1/2 behind the division-leading Dodgers in the NL West.
That’s with starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin having opened the season on the disabled list, and still most likely having rehab starts with Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday and April 29 before a possible activation.
It’s with major offseason rotation addition Brett Anderson out for at least two months after suffering a broken finger while batting in his third start.
It’s with All-Star left fielder Carlos Gonzalez in a 5-for-35 slump that has seen him drive in one run in the last 10 games, defending NL batting champ and heart of the clubhouse Michael Cuddyer on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain, and Jorge De La Rosa not earning his first victory until Monday’s win over the Giants.
De La Rosa could only make it through five innings in that game, allowing one run but laboring through a 102 pitch effort that included only 59 strikes. He did, however, ease some concerns when he pitched out of a two-on, nobody-out threat in the fourth and escaped unscored upon with Giants runners on first and third with one out and the middle of the order coming up in the fifth.
“It was a good sign to see him pitch out of those jams,” manager Walt Weiss said. “It’s what was a staple for him last year, but early on [this year] he hasn’t been so good at it.”
What’s been good about the Rockies, though, is the help they have received from throughout the roster.
