Man arrested in connection with scissor attack
Jun 27th
Roy Gene Seagraves (DOB 4/3/1961) was arrested in Longmont, CO around 10:15 a.m. today, June 27, 2013. Longmont police received a tip that Seagraves was seen in the 1500 block of Main Street. Longmont officers arrested Seagraves without incident and he has been booked in the Boulder County Jail on charges of First Degree Attempted Murder and First Degree Assault. His bond has been set at $500,000.
Boulder police linked Seagraves to an assault which occurred earlier this month. Investigators believe Seagraves attacked an 18-year-old man with a pair of scissors on June 15, 2013, around 10:21 p.m. The assault occurred in the area of 13th and Spruce Streets.
Boulder detectives received an anonymous tip from someone who identified Seagraves from a composite sketch released by Boulder police. The sketch matched a recent booking photo taken at the Boulder County Jail.
The night of the attack, the male victim told police he was walking with a female friend when an unknown male, wielding a pair of scissors, attacked him. The suspect held the scissors to the victim’s throat, but the victim was able to wrest the scissors away from the suspect. The victim was treated at the hospital for cuts and abrasions he received during the scuffle; his female friend was not injured. The investigation indicates that the attack was unprovoked.
The case number is 13-7877.

Boulder police arrest suspect in 2009 assault case
Sep 4th
Boulder police detectives arrested a 22-year-old man today in connection with an alleged assault that took place in November 2009.
Erick Berdinner (DOB: 2/20/1990) faces a charge of First Degree Assault, a class 3 felony.
Police believe Berdinner is responsible for the 2009 assault of 41-year-old Timothy Aughinbaugh. Aughinbaugh suffered serious facial injuries during the assault and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The two men were acquaintances.
No arrests were made at the time because of inconsistencies in statements made by several of the people involved in the case. The Boulder Police Department also consulted with the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, which declined to file charges.
Timothy Aughinbaugh died in November 2011.
This past spring, Berdinner and his girlfriend were allegedly involved in an unrelated forgery case in another jurisdiction. After seeing news reports about that case, several people came forward to offer information to Boulder investigators about the 2009 assault of Aughinbaugh. After further investigation by Boulder detectives, the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the case once more and an arrest warrant for Erick Berdinner was signed and executed today.
Berdinner remains in custody at the Boulder County Jail. His bond has been set at $50,000.00.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Tom Dowd at 303-441-3385. The case number is 09-14959.
Boulder police arrest three in connection with February assault on University Hill
May 2nd
Boulder police arrested three men Friday night in connection with an assault that took place in February after a snowball-throwing incident in the 900 block of 13th Street.
A group of young people walking home a little before midnight on Feb. 19, 2011, were throwing snowballs at each other across 13th Street and over a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was stopped at a stop sign. Witnesses say the Jeep started down the road, but made a U-turn about a block away and came back toward the group.
According to witnesses, a man jumped out of the Jeep and hit one of the male members of the group across the face with a liquor bottle, cutting his face and causing him serious bodily injury.
Orlando Bustamante-Bello (DOB 3/28/1989) was arrested at the Millenium Hotel on April 29 and faces charges of First Degree Assault in this case. He was taken to the Boulder County Jail where bail was set at $20,000.
The driver and passenger in the Jeep also face charges. Initially, they told police they had picked up an acquaintance and given him a ride, and that the acquaintance was the attacker. They later admitted that they had lied to police to protect their friend, Bustamante-Bello.
Adam Nedelka (DOB 4/06/1990) and Danny Goldberg (DOB 1/04/1990) were also arrested on April 29. Both men face charges of Accessory to a Crime (First Degree Assault). They were taken to the Boulder County Jail. The case number is 11-2284.
