Off I-70 exit 256 is a small town that calls itself “Genesee”. Genesee is part of Jefferson County and has almost 4,000 people living in it. Residents often see Deer and Elk on a daily basis but seeing a Black Bear or a Mountain Lion does occasionally happen. The town is too small to have its own police force but does have its own volunteer Fire Department. The town also has its own Swim Team, but the average age of the residents has been going up over the past 25 years.
The Rocky Mountain Airshow is attended by up to 400 aircraft from around the country. During the three-day event, the FAA and industry leaders present over 20 educational and safety forums.
