Rockies Replay Challenge Win
May 6th
Rockies got a reprieve in the second inning when a call at first base was overturned by an instant-replay challenge.
With two out in the inning and the Rockies leading, 2-0, DJ LeMahieu hit a bouncer to Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre, whose high throw caused first baseman Prince Fielder to leap and attempt to tag LeMahieu.
LeMahieu ducked under Fielder and touched first base with his left hand. First-base umpire Kerwin Danley ruled LeMahieu out before Rockies manager Walt Weiss issued a challenge.
The play was overturned. However, pitcher Jordan Lyles struck out to end the inning.

Austin Added to Broncos Defensive Line
May 5th
The Broncos have added free-agent defensive tackle Marvin Austin.
With the 2014 NFL Draft just days away, the Broncos’ front office still has its eyes on the free-agent market.
The club added fourth-year defensive tackle Marvin Austin on Monday.
A 2011 second-round pick of the New York Giants, Austin has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and most recently the Dallas Cowboys.
He has played in a total of 11 games in his career after missing his rookie campaign with a torn pectoral muscle. His tenure with the Cowboys came to a close when he was waived-injured after hurting his back in practice after appearing in one game.
Austin was a standout college player at the University of North Carolina, where he was selected second-team All-ACC as a junior.

Rockies Chacin Back
May 4th
He will try to help his club earn a four-game sweep of the Mets, who counter with right-hander Dillon Gee (2-1, 2.88 ERA).
Chacin’s four Minor League rehab starts, two at Class A Modesto and two at Triple-A Colorado Springs covering 18 innings (1-3, 5.00 ERA), essentially were his Spring Training. His last start, when he went six innings at Memphis and gave up one run on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts, let him know he was ready.
There have been the occasional crazy games, like Saturday’s 11-10 victory over the Mets, when Rockies starter Franklin Morales gave up six runs in five innings. But Rockies starters are 10-2 since April 15.
And the rotation gets back Chacin, 26, who went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA and forced 30 double-play grounders (second in the Majors to the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright) last season, when he was the Opening Day starter.
