rockiesAfter missing the first five weeks of the season recovering and rehabbing from a right shoulder strain that showed up at the start of Spring Training, Chacin joins the Rockies on Sunday afternoon.

He will try to help his club earn a four-game sweep of the Mets, who counter with right-hander Dillon Gee (2-1, 2.88 ERA).

Chacin’s four Minor League rehab starts, two at Class A Modesto and two at Triple-A Colorado Springs covering 18 innings (1-3, 5.00 ERA), essentially were his Spring Training. His last start, when he went six innings at Memphis and gave up one run on four hits with four walks and four strikeouts, let him know he was ready.

There have been the occasional crazy games, like Saturday’s 11-10 victory over the Mets, when Rockies starter Franklin Morales gave up six runs in five innings. But Rockies starters are 10-2 since April 15.

And the rotation gets back Chacin, 26, who went 14-10 with a 3.47 ERA and forced 30 double-play grounders (second in the Majors to the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright) last season, when he was the Opening Day starter.
