Boulder police release new information on fatal hit-and-run accident

The accident happened in the northbound merge lane of Broadway, just north of Baseline, at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011.
The Boulder County Coroner has identified the victim as Ronald L. Keithline (date of birth 01/31/1957). Keithline has had a number of interactions with Boulder police and has been known to lie in roadways in the past.
Witnesses who witnessed the collision say that, just prior to the accident, a red SUV stopped suddenly and swerved onto the sidewalk to go around something in the road. About 30 seconds later, they say they saw a dark-colored SUV hit Keithline. According to these witnesses, the SUV stopped for a moment, and then fled the scene.
Police are looking for a dark-colored Toyota Rav4 or Nissan Xterra-type vehicle.

Police seek public’s help in fatal hit-and-run accident

Boulder police are looking for the driver of a sport utility vehicle that hit and killed a pedestrian and fled the scene of the accident.
It happened this evening, March 5, 2011, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Broadway, just north of Baseline Road.
Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a dark-colored Rav 4 or Nissan Xterra-type vehicle. No other information is available.
Police and the coroner’s office are continuing to investigate; the victim’s identity will not be released until next-of-kin are notified.

Suspect arrested in Wells Fargo bank robbery

Police in Denver arrested 23-year old William Anthony Chren III (08/26/87) yesterday for an incident unrelated to Monday’s Wells Fargo robbery at 1690 Canyon Boulevard in Boulder. Believing there may be a connection to the Denver suspect, investigators from Boulder and Denver worked together.
After witnesses identified Chren as the Wells Fargo suspect, Boulder police obtained a warrant for Chren’s arrest this morning.
Chren is currently being held at the Denver County Jail. His bail is set at $25,000.
