Boulder cops seek ID of “identity theft” crook…photos and story:
Feb 10th
Boulder police are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a suspect in an identity theft case. On Jan. 6, a suspect entered a parked car and stole the victim’s wallet and ID. The suspect then used the victim’s stolen credit cards and made over $2,000 in purchases at the Best Buy in Boulder.
The suspect who used the credit cards is described as a white male with reddish brown hair and a light complexion. He appeared to be in his 20’s. Surveillance photos of the suspect are attached.
The case number for this incident is 11-226.

Police see increase in bicycle thefts from garages

Over the past three months, 21 bicycles have been stolen from garages left open by homeowners. The thefts have occurred between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. nearly every day of the week, except Tuesdays. Both high-end bicycles and lower-end bicycles have been taken. The area of the city most affected has the following boundaries: Arapahoe Avenue, South Boulder Road, 30th Street and 55th Street.
There are no suspect descriptions at this time.
The Boulder Police Department would like to remind residents to lock their doors to their homes and vehicles, keep garage doors closed and latched, and store valuable belongings out of plain sight.

Boulder Police arrest account manager in embezzlement case

Boulder detectives launched their investigation in December 2010 after another accountant, who was filling in while Shelton was off from work, discovered what appeared to be a large amount of money being transferred to two separate personal bank accounts. The company conducted an audit and contacted police. Shelton worked for the company since June 2007 and the evidence suggests she began diverting funds two months later.
Police obtained an arrest warrant on Jan. 28. The warrant accuses Shelton, whose date of birth is Sept. 4, 1970, of theft over $20,000, which is a class 3 felony, and computer crimes, which is also a class 3 felony. Bail was set at $50,000.
