Boulderwind cowx 54mph 92mph gusts: trees, lines, transformers, accidents, signs, debris blown

Wednesday Jan 18 8:15pm Boulder police and fire report numerous traffic lights out over the city. Serveral transformers are being reported blown and on fire.
A tree fell on power line near 11 and Walnut starting a fire.
Nearby homes were evacuated.
In east boulder cattle fences blew down and cattle were on highway.
RTD is reporting some large signs down in city.
City 911 very busy. Dispatch reports
Power outages all over city.
Wind related roll over accidents 2 in last hour.
Some officers have been seen wearing helmets and googles. Good advice to anyone walking around. See weather report below. This does not account for the foothills of Boulder where winds are high

8:45pm Boulder County reports power line down in field at redwood court, sparking with fire and embers.
all fires out at this point, but police report signs, debris flying through air. Power lines are down and there are still power outages.
9:00pm Boulder Airport reports constant wind speed of 54mph Various sources in city report gusts of 71mph to 92mph
Diagonal and Look out road RR crossing sign blew into car causing tow car accident.
9:27pm Boulder Weather Station live reposts Power lines and trees continue to fall at this hour.

A bad day for climbers on Boulder’s Flatirons

On January 15, 2012, at approximately 5 pm, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, the Boulder Fire Department, AMR Ambulance Service and Rocky Mountain Rescue responded to the second flatiron, west of Boulder. Harry Bucy and his son were climbing when Harry fell approximately 30 feet. Mr. Bucy was rescued and transported to the Boulder Community Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Forty minutes after responding to the for-mentioned rescue, rescuers were called to another fallen climber on the first flatiron. Daniel Garcia had fallen approximately 15 feet, also sustaining non-life threatening injuries and transported to the Boulder Community Hospital.
Neither rescue, nor the victims were associated with each other.
Yawpers debut videos, Announce Winter Dates

This Saturday night, the Yawpers play the Mercury Cafe in Denver for the first time. Until then – we’ve got some new live videos to share.
Captured by Mountain to Sound at the Thin Man Tavern’s intimate Ubisububi Room in Denver last month,the Yawpers’ performances of “Mother” and “Garbage Man” present the Boulder indie-rock and country band at its down-and-dirtiest. Hope you enjoy. These two songs are not on the Yawpers’ just-released debut, Savage Blue, but will be on our first full-length, to be recorded soon.
In other news, the Yawpers are keeping busy this winter with repeated visits to Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas, as well as a few just-announced home-state dates leading up to our first-ever appearance atSouth by Southwest in Austin, this March.
