Boulder animal abuse & cruelty
Jul 20th
City residents who want to report animal cruelty now have a new option, in addition to reporting the incident to police. The Boulder Police Department is partnering with Crime Stoppers to allow people to report anonymous tips about concerns, such as abuse or neglect, dog fighting and other inhumane activities involving dogs, cats or horses.
Before now, there was no specific program for animal cruelty to be reported through anonymous tips in Colorado. Crime Stoppers will offer this anonymous tip service indefinitely, and anyone in Colorado is free to use it.
Tips can be reported via phone or text messaging. Concerned residents may call 720-913-7867 or they may text a message to CRIMES (274637). Those using the text message option should title their message “DMCS” (Denver Metro Crime Stoppers).
Anyone suspecting that dogs, cats or horses are being abused or neglected are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers if they would prefer to make an anonymous report. The Boulder Police Department’s Animal Control Division is also available to take reports and to respond. A call to police may result in a more immediate response. The non-emergency dispatch number for BPD is 303-441-3333. As always, please call 9-1-1 if there is an emergency.
Crime Stoppers tips are guaranteed to be anonymous, and there is a potential reward of up to $2,000.00 if the animal abuse tip results in a summons or arrest.
Online advertising does not work?? Oh no kidding by Jann Scott
Jul 15th
First of all it costs too much money according to Trada ceo. Then SM kid Gabe Lee spread an article around face book saying Banner ads are a loser. Now these are two people who are speaking out of school in the ad world??
yep, But we agree with them.
HERE’S THE RUB: We’ve in in the advertising business at the local level for 30 years so we know what get results for advertisers. We have to or we would not be in business. Advertisers want results. They want to see income levels go up as a result of buying advertising.
You’ll notice Banner ads on the right side here. Do they work?? Yep. Why. Because we treat our advertisers as kings and queens. We don’t treat them as marks the way most online companies do. LIKE FACEBOOK, TWITTER and most of the Boulder online ad houses. What do I mean by that.??
We give our advertisers a full service compliment, track every hit, and we provide them with everything from video to pr. We don’t just sell them. We make it happen for them. We work their business for them. Ask them. They love us. If you are local and you want inexpensive old school results in a world of new technology call me Jann Scott 303 447 8531
COLORADO BUSINESS LEADERS’ CONFIDENCE WANES SLIGHTLY, SAYS CU LEEDS SCHOOL INDEX
Jul 1st
For the third quarter of 2011, the LBCI posted a reading of 51.6, down from 56.8 in the second quarter. Confidence waned across all indices, although most remained above the neutral mark of 50.
Expectations for the national economy were once again especially bleak, falling back below neutral after two consecutive quarters of optimism, according to Leeds School economist and Business Research Division Executive Director Richard Wobbekind, who conducts the quarterly survey.
“The overall economy has been damaged by uncertainty — the uncertainty of consumers about the strength of the recovery and the strength of the job market and the uncertainty of businesses about demand for their products — and I think that uncertainty has worked its way into our index and other national indexes,” Wobbekind said.
An index reading of 50 is neutral. A reading greater than 50 indicates positive expectations, while an index lower than 50 indicates negative expectations, according to Leeds School researcher Brian Lewandowski, who compiles the survey results for the index.
“I think our business leaders want to see some of their concerns such as the international debt issues, higher oil prices and other uncertainties get worked out, and fortunately right now some of these things are getting worked out,” Wobbekind said. “They’re backpedaling a little bit and they’re not quite as confident, but overall they have a decent level of confidence.”
Confidence turned negative for the national economy, decreasing nearly 10 points from 53.6 to 44.0, while the state index fell from 55.5 to 51.2.
Capital expenditures had an index reading of 53.4, down from 56.1 last quarter. The sales and profit expectations of business leaders are positive, but subdued, according to Lewandowski. The sales index was 55.8, and the profit index was 53.1.
