Big black Perv tries to abduct three little boys coming home from school on Mapleton hill: Boulder Police investigate

Tuesday, May 24, 2011 Boulder Police investigate attempted child abduction
On Monday, May 23, at approximately 3:10 p.m., as three elementary school aged boys were getting off their school bus in the area of 9thStreet and Mapleton Avenue, they were approached by a suspicious black male. The male began walking behind them and attempted to engage the boys in conversation. The boys ignored the male and continued walking southbound on 9th Street. The male persisted in engaging the boys in conversation and tried to entice them to go with him to Denver by asking them to have a cheeseburger with him. At one point, the male grabbed one of the boys by his arm. The boy was able to struggle free and the boys ran to 9th and Pearl streets. They looked back and noticed the male had entered a green Jeep with a brown top. The Jeep is possibly a Wrangler.
None of the boys was hurt during this incident.
The suspect is described as a black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks. He was wearing a yellow/blue/gray striped shirt, black pants and dirty, black shoes. The male spoke with some type of accent.
Boulder police have notified the Boulder Valley School District officials and security. In addition, the police will be providing extra patrols at the schools and the surrounding areas.
Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect and/or his vehicle.

Boulder police investigating check fraud scam

In each case, the suspect approached the victim and asked for assistance in cashing a check. He claimed that he’s from Jamaica, spoke with an accent which may be fake, and said he was in town to promote a reggae concert. He said he didn’t have access to a local bank account and in return for the victim’s help, he promised to give them VIP tickets to a concert. The case numbers are 11-5243, 44-4908 and 11-4291.
The students have cashed the suspect’s checks against their own accounts, giving the suspect hundreds of dollars, which he promises will be reimbursed. None of the students has received money back. Checks have been cashed at Elevations Credit Union, First National Bank and US Bank.
The suspect drives a black 4-door sedan, and the license plate may resemble 087 WUU or a combination of these letters and numbers. He may be using multiple plates. It’s not known what state the license plate(s) is from.
The suspect is described as:
- Dark-skinned black male
- 5 feet, 10 inches tall
- 25 to 29 years old
- Dark dreadlocks
- Goes by the name “DJ Danny”
The suspect was last seen on May 17 around 2:00 p.m. at 29th Street and Arapahoe Avenue. He may be traveling with a companion who is described only as a light-skinned black male.

Boulder police arrest three in connection with February assault on University Hill

Boulder police arrested three men Friday night in connection with an assault that took place in February after a snowball-throwing incident in the 900 block of 13th Street.
A group of young people walking home a little before midnight on Feb. 19, 2011, were throwing snowballs at each other across 13th Street and over a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was stopped at a stop sign. Witnesses say the Jeep started down the road, but made a U-turn about a block away and came back toward the group.
According to witnesses, a man jumped out of the Jeep and hit one of the male members of the group across the face with a liquor bottle, cutting his face and causing him serious bodily injury.
Orlando Bustamante-Bello (DOB 3/28/1989) was arrested at the Millenium Hotel on April 29 and faces charges of First Degree Assault in this case. He was taken to the Boulder County Jail where bail was set at $20,000.
The driver and passenger in the Jeep also face charges. Initially, they told police they had picked up an acquaintance and given him a ride, and that the acquaintance was the attacker. They later admitted that they had lied to police to protect their friend, Bustamante-Bello.
Adam Nedelka (DOB 4/06/1990) and Danny Goldberg (DOB 1/04/1990) were also arrested on April 29. Both men face charges of Accessory to a Crime (First Degree Assault). They were taken to the Boulder County Jail. The case number is 11-2284.
