Rockies-Off the field, the big news was that Short stop Troy Tulowitztki was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays for Jose Reyes. Reyes has been in the league since 2003 and played his best baseball in 2011 with the Mets, when he batted .337. It’s been a tough week for the Rockies who have lost their last 5 of 7 games. The Rockies offense hasn’t struggled at all, scoring 8 runs in 2 of the games that they lost in the last inning. The pitching has been the Rockies Achilles heel all season but has been especially bad in the past week when the relief pitchers blew two leads in the last half inning.
Next the Rockies play at home vs the Marlins on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then head to Washington for their next three games.
Broncos- Broncos Training camp has officially began and the team has already completed it’s first three days of camp. New head coach Gary Kubiak isn’t thrilled with the way his team has started off the season. The new coach said “Two days in a row, I felt like the majority of our mistakes are coming at the end of practice,” he said, adding, “I want us to see us finish practice a little better than we’ve been finishing, when we get a little deeper into practice.” Broncos QB Peyton Manning kept the mood light on the practice field when he asked two young fans to run fade routes into the end zone and catch touchdown passes that he threw. Head coach Gary Kubiak seems a little restless with his new team, while Manning a veteran on this Broncos team couldn’t be more relaxed. The Team will begin to practice with full pads on Monday.

Broncos- The big news coming out of Denver this week was about Defensive End, Derek Wolfe. The Broncos will lose defensive end Derek Wolfe to a four-game suspension for a violation of the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, The League announced Friday. In a statement, Wolfe offered an apology to the Broncos organization, teammates and fans. He noted that the suspension was caused by medication that he took.Wolfe said “I will certainly exercise far greater caution in the future and will seek advice relating to the permissibility of any and all medications.” Wolfe will be replaced by Malik Jackson, who had a very productive last season with the Broncos, having 13 Quarterback hits and 29 hurries.
Rockies- After a very exciting game Friday, including two HR’s by Carlos Gonzalez, and a game winning dive into home plate by Charlie Blackmon, The Rockies looked more liked themselves last night, losing 5-2 after allowing 5 runs in the 3rd inning. The Rockies, are sitting in last place in the NL West after falling to 41-54. The team is headed to Chicago on a 7 game road trip where they will play the Cubs and then they’ll fly to St.Louis to take on the National League leading Cardinals. The offense looks promising having both Nolan Arenado and DJ Lemahieu play in the All Star game. The bottom line for the struggling Rockies is that they need pitchers and they needed them yesterday.
