USA Pro Cycling Challenge
Referred to as “America’s Race,” the USA Pro Challenge will take place August 17-23, 2015. For seven consecutive days, the world’s top athletes race through the demanding Colorado Rockies, reaching higher altitudes than they’ve ever had to endure. One of the largest cycling events in U.S. history and the largest spectator event in the history of the state, the USA Pro Challenge is back for 2015. The challenge starts Aug. 17 in Steamboat Springs and ends on the 23rd in Denver.
CU Buffs Football
The Buffs are only 18 days away from their season opener at Hawaii on September 3rd. CU will welcome the University of Massachusetts on September 12th for their home opener at Folsom Field. The big news this week out of Boulder is that head coach Mike Macintyre said that he will select four captains for each game this year, with those four being picked from a 12-player leadership group. Macintyre said “I’ll rotate four of those guys each game to be a team captain. That way we have more guys out there leading, more guys that have voices and we’re developing more of a cohesive group.”
Colorado Rockies
Chris Rusin tossed his first career shutout on Sunday as the Rockies defeated the Padres, 5-0, at Coors Field. Rusin allowed five hits, one walk and got 12 ground-ball outs in his first win since June 21. This was the first shutout by a Rockies pitcher at Coors Field since Tyler Matzek did it against the Padres on Sept. 5, 2014. Overall the Rockies are still struggling sitting 18 games back the NL West leading Dodgers
Denver Broncos
Good news for Broncos fans because football is officially back and the Broncos were able to win their first pre season game in Seattle. Brock Osweiler was Starting in place of Peyton Manning, who went through pregame warmups but was just a spectator, Osweiler finished with a 112.7 rating. He capped his night with a 17-yard touchdown pass to tight end Virgil Green late in the first half for a 19-10 lead. Denver’s offense finished with 240 yards in the half, although much of that came with most of Seattle’s starting defense standing on the sideline.

CU Buffs Football- The Buffs are only 25 days away from their season opener at Hawaii on September 3rd. The Buffs will welcome the University of Massachusetts on September 12th for their home opener at Folsom Field. Hopefully the Buffs will be able to improve on their record last year of 2-10 and a Pac-12 record of 0-9.
Colorado Rockies- The Rockies were able to steal 2 of 3 games at Washington against the Nationals but are still sitting 15 games under .500 with about 45 games left in the season. It doesn’t look like the Rox will make the post season but it’s encouraging to see them put up a fight late in the season even when all post season hopes are gone.
Denver Broncos- Two weeks into training camp the Broncos players are feeling confident. The Broncos have five players on the depth chart this year that played in the Pro Bowl this past January. The Broncos defenders say they’ve been good, but they want to be better, more impactful, more game-changing. The Broncos are 5 days away from their pre-season opener against the Seahawks on the 14th.
Furniture Row Nascar Team #78- The Denver Race Team (Nascar #78) has it’s next race in Bristol, Connecticut on August 22. The Chevy team will race around the Oval shaped track sponsored by Irwin Tools in just 13 days.
