Undocumented Youth Staging Sit and Hunger Strike At The Obama Campaign Office in Denver to Demand Executive Order Has Triggered National Immigrant Youth Alliance to Take Actions Across The Nation
NIYA to Carry Out Actions of Civil Disobedience This Week at Obama Campaign Offices Nationwide
Denver- Campaign For an American DREAM has triggered The National Immigrant Youth Alliance (NIYA) to activate its network to carry out acts of Civil Disobedience in Democratic campaign office across the country from now until the November elections. The Administration has thus far not responded to the demand of two undocumented youth whom have staged a sit in and hunger strike in the Obama for America offices in Denver on Broadway and 9th Avenue. The youth have been in the office since tuesday June 5th and are demanding an Executive Order to stop the deportations of undocumented youth eligible for the DREAM Act. Actions nationwide will begin this week after press conference at 5pm outside OFA 77 W. 9th Avenue.
“ We’ve been ignore in this state but we will be heard across the country, along with many undocumented youth, we will demand an action!” said Veronica Gomez, an undocumented student with Campaign for an American Dream (CAD), which is now on her seventh day without any eating. “The immigrant community nationally needs to know that we have a voice in this country, that we are not criminals, and we deserve a pathway to legalization.”
So far, Organizing for America has avoided discussing the executive order in their responses. Meanwhile, we are being deported. Last week, the American Immigration Lawyers Association released a statement declaring the policy of prosecutorial discretion a “failure”. We have always been skeptical of the policy, and are now demanding something better.
“If they want the Latino vote in Colorado, they must show the community what they are doing for us. We are asking them to stop the deportation of all DREAM eligible youth!” said Javier Hernandez, an undocumented immigrant living in Colorado and CO-founder of Colorado, Organize, Resist, Escalate (COORE).
Hugo Zarate, a young man from Denver who wants to enlist in the armed forces has been denied a request for deferred action, even thought he came here at a young age, is DREAM Act-eligible and does not have a criminal record. Only the strength of an executive order will prevent deportations like his from moving forward.
We will not accept gridlock as an excuse for our deportations when the President can stop them with an executive order. We simply cannot be asked to support a President while we are being deported and our families live in fear.

“The Dictator” a One-Joke Movie

“Hotshots” looks at a movie!
The Dictator is Sacha Baron Cohen’s latest film and is not to be confused with the 1940 Charles Chaplin film, The Great Dictator, nor any of the many other films based on Mark Twain’s 1881 story, “The Prince and the Pauper.”
Yes, the story is about a leader of a country who tries to pass himself off as a commoner, either by choice or force, and in this case, force.
Admiral General Aladeen is the dictator of the North African nation of Wadiya, and he has the extravagantly long beard to prove it. He is also so egotistical that he changes the names of many words to “Aladeen” to honor his glory.
He is also so stupid that he doesn’t see the problem in changing the Wadiyan words of both “positive” and “negative” to “Aladeen,” especially when a doctor asks his patient, “Do you want the Aladeen news or the Aladeen news?”
Ben Kingsley plays Tamir, Admiral General Aladeen’s second in command, and your first question should be “What is Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley doing in this piece of crap movie?
Apparently, just as there are no small parts, only small actors, there are no big actors who aren’t willing to prostitute themselves for a small paycheck.
Tamir finds a double for Admiral General Aladeen whose only real job is to be shot in the head, because the people of Wadiya want to live in a democracy, not a dictatorship.
The job requirement for being the double of Admiral General Aladeen is to be stupid, and because Cohen also plays the role of the double, he can act even more stupid than he usually does.
Of course, the story moves to New York City, where Admiral General Aladeen is to give a speech at the United Nations, of course there is a kidnaping plot, of course the admiral general’s beard is cut off while he is being tortured, of course he escapes the kidnaper, and of course the rest of the movie is about the beardless Aladeen trying to exist on his own in New York City.
However, not of course, the movie takes a turn of events when Aladeen meets Zoe, a radical socialist played by Anna Faris, and he takes a job working for her.
The Dictator is a one-joke movie worth two chuckles, tops.

“Mirror Mirror” Is Surprisingly Excellent

“Hotshots” looks at a movie!
Mirror Mirror is the most recent Hollywood version of the fairy tale about Snow White, another version is even being released later this year, but you just might be surprised at how well you enjoy this one with Julia Roberts starring as the evil Queen.
In fact, at the beginning in a voice-over by the Queen as she narrates the background of the story about Snow White, the Queen says, “And this is my story, not hers.”
Snow White is played by Lily Collins, the daughter of seven-time Grammy winner Phil Collins, and we are told that she was left under the care of the Queen when the King disappeared mysteriously, and under the control of the Queen, the once prosperous kingdom has now become close to destitute.
The people in the kingdom don’t sing and dance like they used to, and shouldn’t it be called the queendom now, anyway?
At any rate, Snow White has been confined to the castle by the Queen all these years, and when she is 18, Snow White sneaks out of the castle to see for herself what has been happening in the queendom.
While she is in the forest, Snow White rescues the charming Prince Alcott, played by Armie Hammer, who, along with his companion, has been robbed by a gang of seven thieves.
Well, you can pretty much guess the rest, can’t you, but I’ll bet you can’t guess the names of the seven dwarfs, who here have been named Napoleon, Half Pint, Grub, Grimm, Wolf, Butcher, and Chuckles, and who live in the woods because the Queen had all the “ugly people” banished from the village.
Another change to this version of the classic story is the addition of Brighton, who is unofficially called the Queen’s Executive Bootlicker and who is played by Nathan Lane.
Also, the order of some of the events that we are familiar with from previous versions of the story have been turned around, but again, because Julia Roberts is the bigger star and because she said so at the beginning, this is a story more about the Queen than a story about Snow White.
However, when it reaches the part in the story where “they all lived happily ever after,” both the Queen and the audience might be surprised.
Mirror Mirror is surprisingly excellent.
