Arapahoe Avenue closed between 15th and 17th streets on Saturday
Aug 9th
Eastbound Arapahoe Avenue between 17th and Folsom streets will remain open, businesses along Arapahoe Avenue will remain open, and the Boulder Farmers’ Market will remain at its current location. Travelers are encouraged to walk or bike along the Boulder Creek Path, ride buses, or use Canyon Boulevard and the downtown parking garages if driving.
The one-day full closure between 15th and 17th streets is a final step in the first phase of the Arapahoe Avenue Reconstruction project. Phase two is scheduled to begin on Saturday, Aug. 17, when westbound Arapahoe Avenue will be reopened to traffic, and will continue through May 2014. During phase two of the reconstruction, Arapahoe Avenue will have intermittent daytime lane closures; travel in both directions will remain open throughout. The JUMP bus will remain on Arapahoe Avenue, but there may be temporary bus stop closures. Phase two includes irrigation relocation and construction of curbs, gutters, driveways, and sidewalks.
By fall 2014, Arapahoe Avenue will be reconstructed into concrete between Folsom and 15th streets, along with additional enhancements. For more information, call 303-441-3266 or visit www.bouldertransportation.net and select “Arapahoe Avenue Reconstruction.”

Final free day at the Colorado Railroad Museum for Boulder residents
Aug 8th
The final free day at the Colorado Railroad Museum (CRRM) for Boulder residents will be held on Friday, Aug. 16. The museum is located at 17155 West 44th Ave. in Golden, CO, and the free train day runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A free train ride is provided, weather permitting.
In 2012, extensive restoration efforts were completed on the city’s historic engine and rail cars, which include locomotive #30, Rio Grande Southern caboose #04990 and Denver and Rio Grande Western coach #280. These historic train assets were originally purchased in the 1950s by residents of Boulder, led by University of Colorado professor and Boulder historian John B. Schoolland. The City of Boulder has an agreement with the CRRM that the train will be on display at the museum for up to 10 years.
For free entry into the museum, adults will need to provide proof of an address inside the city limits of Boulder with a photo of identification. For more information, call Carey Sager, Parks and Recreation Department, 303-441-3858. For more information about the CRRM, visit www.ColoradoRailroadMuseum.org.
