Boulder police arrest three in connection with February assault on University Hill
May 2nd
Boulder police arrested three men Friday night in connection with an assault that took place in February after a snowball-throwing incident in the 900 block of 13th Street.
A group of young people walking home a little before midnight on Feb. 19, 2011, were throwing snowballs at each other across 13th Street and over a dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was stopped at a stop sign. Witnesses say the Jeep started down the road, but made a U-turn about a block away and came back toward the group.
According to witnesses, a man jumped out of the Jeep and hit one of the male members of the group across the face with a liquor bottle, cutting his face and causing him serious bodily injury.
Orlando Bustamante-Bello (DOB 3/28/1989) was arrested at the Millenium Hotel on April 29 and faces charges of First Degree Assault in this case. He was taken to the Boulder County Jail where bail was set at $20,000.
The driver and passenger in the Jeep also face charges. Initially, they told police they had picked up an acquaintance and given him a ride, and that the acquaintance was the attacker. They later admitted that they had lied to police to protect their friend, Bustamante-Bello.
Adam Nedelka (DOB 4/06/1990) and Danny Goldberg (DOB 1/04/1990) were also arrested on April 29. Both men face charges of Accessory to a Crime (First Degree Assault). They were taken to the Boulder County Jail. The case number is 11-2284.

Boulder police negotiate peaceful end to standoff
Apr 4th
The incident began around 3:20 p.m. on April 4. A female friend called police and told dispatchers that the man was suicidal and that he was armed with a handgun outside Boulder Community Hospital
The Boulder Police SWAT Team arrived and isolated the suspect near a wall at the northeast corner of the hospital. Police could see that the man did have a weapon, which he pointed at his head a number of times during the standoff.
SWAT crisis negotiators established a rapport with the man and spoke with him throughout the afternoon and evening and attempted to convince him to surrender peacefully. Although the man was armed, he never threatened police or anyone else. Around 7:00 this evening, he agreed to surrender his weapon and was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect will face misdemeanor charges of Disorderly Conduct and Unlawful Carrying of a Concealed Weapon.

Riding with The King – In A Police Car
Sept. 24, 2010
Just sent in my app for the Boulder Police Dept’s “Ride Along” program. If they accept me this will be the first time I’ll be in a Police car without the cuff’s on.
I think this is a very cool program. I mean, it’s not everyday you can actually “ride along” with an On-Duty Police Officer. That means if there’s a call for a cop and my officer is nearby – I could be first on the scene. This poses all kinds of excitement and fear. Here’s my list of things I hope I get to be in on. And things I hope to avoid.
Excitement:
Arresting a city politician for any reason. Like chewing gum too loudly.
Cat up a tree. I wanna see if BPD saw Steve Martin’s Roxanne and just opens a can of cat food at the base of the tree.
I’ll be able to count how many times we stop for coffee and doughnuts.
CU Campus food riot.
Report of woman mowing lawn naked.
Fear:
Report of a man mowing lawn naked.
Fatal auto accident.
Riot at Boulder County Jail.
Osama Bin Laden spotted at Mustard’s Last Stand.
A routine background check on a speeder turns up an old warrant on me.
If they accept me I promise a full report. In return if they arrest me and I need bail money – you promise to ante up!
More to come…
