Under the Skin is a 2013 British-American science fiction film directed by Jonathan Glazer. Produced by James Wilson and Nick Wechsler, it was written by Glazer and Walter Campbell as an adaptation of Michel Faber’s 2000 novel of the same name. The film stars Scarlett Johansson as an alien who preys on men in Scotland.
St. Augustine Native American Flute Workshop

Dean Allan Slickis, Director of OM Studios, is an enthusiastic instructor with a wealth of teaching, recording and performing experience. On April 24, 2014, he will be offering a workshop, The Native American Flute: A Beautiful Experience in Balance and Harmony at Amiro Art & Found at 7:00p.m.
The workshop is designed for the absolute beginner and is limited to only ten participants to ensure a relaxed, creative, and intimate atmosphere. Advance registration and payment of $40 is required. Topics covered during the two-hour workshop will include: How to Hold the Flute, First Fingerings, Beginning Melodies, Phrasing, Traditional Songs and Resources, and Playing from the Inside.
Dean brings passion and the true joy of music to his students. He completed undergraduate studies in the Jazz and Contemporary Music Program at Parsons School of Design in NYC, the Detroit Institute of Music and Dance, Southwest Missouri State University, and Shaw University. His graduate and professional work includes the Hindustani classical music of North India, the classical rhythms of North Africa and the Middle East, and a bit of Andalusian flamenco.
Over the years, Dean has successfully taught hundreds of students throughout NE Florida via private and group instruction and course offerings at the Florida Community College at Jacksonville, the First Coast School of Music, Music Time Studios, the St. Johns County Continuing Education Program and the First Coast Technical Institute.

King Street Moving Back on Schedule

A public session will be hosted tomorrow by Vice Mayor Nancy Sikes-Kline to discuss how to get proposed improvements on King Street back on schedule – and funded – after businesses halted a start two years ago, protesting a yearlong traffic disruption.
“Should the project move forward, the earliest it could begin would be in 2017,” says Sikes-Kline, who will meet with merchants and residents at Markland House tomorrow 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) redirected project funding after the start was called off. The scheduled project would have included drainage and roadway improvements along King from Malaga Street to Markland Place.
“At the request of the King Street businesses, the City has asked FDOT for estimates on items above and beyond the cost of the drainage and roadway improvements (FDOT is responsible for),” Sikes-Kline says. “These items include the undergrounding of utilities, decorative street lighting and other upgrades.
“These additional costs are estimated to be at least $1.5 million,” she said.
