Rix joins Flagler College as Director of Annual Giving

Rix was employed at the River Garden Hebrew Home in Jacksonville for approximately eight years where she was consistently promoted within the Development Office. Her most recent position there was Assistant Director of Development where she was responsible for coordinating committee members and volunteers, developing direct mail appeals, and implementing special fundraising efforts for events and the Benefactors Society.
“I am happy to accept my new role as Director of Annual Giving and to join the dynamic Institutional Advancement staff at Flagler College,” said Rix. “I am excited to have the opportunity to help Flagler College achieve its financial needs and broaden the base of support. I am passionate about raising funds that help allow Flagler to uphold its commitment to giving our students the best education possible. ”
Rix holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Speech and Communication Studies and Public Relations.

Flagler College to host ceremony of life for Ostrowidzki

the College’s director of the Forum on Government and Public Policy and longtime professor died on April 7 after battling melanoma.
Among the confirmed speakers are Doctor Keith Justice, current Forum director Jim Toedtman, associate professor Arthur Vanden Houten and College president William T. Abare. Jr.
Ostrowidzki, 80, was a veteran journalist who had served as a White House reporter during the Reagan administration and covered health-care issues in the Clinton era. He also reported on every presidential election from 1964-1988.
He joined the faculty of Flagler College in 1997, and went on to found the Forum on Government and Public Policy, which brings in journalists and other experts to speak about current issues. The Forum has brought to the college names such as Robert Novak, David Broder, Joe Klein, Anne Coulter, Pat Buchanan and Chris Matthews.
Ostrowidzki taught Campaigns and Elections for the Humanities department and Media Power in Politics for Communication.
The ceremony will take place in the Virginia Room of the Ringhaver Student Center, 50 Sevilla St., with a reception immediately to follow in Markland House, 102 King St.
