Picasso: Art & Arena Exhibit – An exhibition featuring dozens of Picasso originals, including many that have never been seen previously in the United States. Both famous and rare, these pieces were produced in different styles, techniques and media; providing unique insights into one of Picasso’s main themes: bullfighting. Tours of El Galeón – El Galeón, a unique replica of the 16th century Spanish galleons that sailed to and from newly-discovered Florida, will be open for tours at the St. Augustine City Marina thru July 8. Dog Days Art Exhibit – Opening reception for artist Sarah Emerson’s Dog Days exhibit is from 5-11 p.m. at St. Augustine’s space:eight Gallery, 228 West King Street, St. Augustine. Expedition Florida 500 – Stand up paddle boarder and Mother Ocean CEO Justin Riney arrives at 3 p.m. in St. Augustine as part of his Expedition Florida 500, a year-long, one-man voyage along the coast of Florida to celebrate the state’s 500th anniversary. From 2 to 4 p.m., stand up paddlers, kayakers and canoeists are welcome to join Justin as he enters Salt Run and continues to the St. Augustine Lighthouse Park. Then from 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a coastal clean-up at the Lighthouse Park area. On Tuesday at 10:45 a.m., Justin will arrive at the Fountain of Youth Archeological Park, 11 Magnolia Ave., St. Augustine, where he will be greeted with a Marine Combat Landing Salute featuring drums, cannon and musket fire. The City of St. Augustine will present an official proclamation. Participation is free with regular admission. From 6 to 7 p.m., Flagler College will host of an evening “Question and Answer” panel discussion with Justin Riney, Flagler College marine scientists, and environmental educators at Kenan Hall 300 corner of Cordova St & Valencia St., St. Augustine. Greek Landing Day Memorial – Hundreds of Greeks, Minorcans and Corsicans arrived in St. Augustine on June 26, 1768, and went on to establish the New Smyrna Colony. Edwin Augustus Moore Special Exhibit at the Lightner Museum – The private collection of Edwin Augustus Moore paintings are featured as a special exhibit at The Lightner Museum through May 1. Moore was an American painter, traveler, journalist, photographer and composer who used St. Augustine for many of his landscape watercolor subjects. He visited the ancient city in 1895 along with other members of his artistic and eccentric family. What Flows From Spain Exhibit – In recognition of Florida’s quincentennial, the St. Augustine Art Association will feature a special exhibit of the works of Cuban-American artist Elio Beltran. The exhibit, titled What Flows From Spain, includes several large-scale narrative paintings emphasizing Florida’s ties to Spain. The artist will be at the gallery from 5-9 p.m. for First Friday Art Walk (April 5). Admission to the gallery is free. Edwin Augustus Moore Special Exhibit at the Lightner Museum – The private collection of Edwin Augustus Moore paintings are featured as a special exhibit at The Lightner Museum through May 1. Moore was an American painter, traveler, journalist, photographer and composer who used St. Augustine for many of his landscape watercolor subjects. He visited the ancient city in 1895 along with other members of his artistic and eccentric family. This St. Augustine 450th Anniversary event begins at 7 p.m. on Friday with a Chalk Walk party. Then, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday, more than 70 artists will use the 500-year old art form of chalking to express St. Augustine’s Spanish Colonial heritage on the sidewalks between the Historic Downtown Parking Facility and the Visitor Information Center at 10 West Castillo Dr. Cash prizes will be presented for the best sidewalk creations. 4th Annual Ponte Vedra Beach Home & Art Tour – Sponsored by Legacy Trust, this 4th annual tour features outstanding creativity in architecture and interior design at five exquisite homes in beautiful Ponte Vedra Beach. This year’s tour will showcase the artwork in each home and how each homeowner incorporated art and color into the design and furnishings of their home. Artists and interior designers will be special guests who will be onsite to meet the public and talk about their work.
