EVENT: Boulder Symphony concert “Journeys of Rebirth”, featuring the Cherry Creek Chorale and the Longmont Youth Symphony EVENT DATE: Friday, October 14 at 7 pm at First Presbyterian Church, Boulder Saturday, October 15 at 7:30 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, Denver ADMISSION: $10-$15 PUBLIC CONTACT: 970-577-1550, info@bouldersymphony.org Boulder Symphony, the Community Orchestra of Boulder County, is proud to collaborate with the Cherry Creek Chorale and the Longmont Youth Symphony to present our premiere concert of the 2011-2012 season, “Journey of Rebirth” at 7:00 pm Friday, October 14 at First Presbyterian Church, Boulder, and again at 7:30 pm on Saturday, October 15 at Bethany Lutheran Church, Denver. Boulder Symphony music director Devin Patrick Hughes will conduct the orchestra in the World Premiere of celebrated composer Austin Wintory’s “Gray Rain”. Also on the program is the beloved Gloria by Francis Poulenc, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Toward the Unknown Region, and Johannes Brahms’ Nanie. The program concludes with the exciting Variations on a Theme of Haydn by Brahms. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. One week left to register to vote
Deadline approaching to receive mail ballot for Nov. 1 election
Boulder County, Colo. – Residents who plan to cast a ballot in the 2011 coordinated election have one week left to register to vote.
The deadline to register for the election, which will be conducted by mail ballot, is Monday, Oct. 3.
Boulder County voters can visit www.BoulderCountyVotes.org to register to vote, request a mail ballot, or check and update their voter registration. They can also call 303-413-7740 for more information or visit one of three Boulder County Clerk & Recorder’s Office branches: 1750 33rd St. in Boulder; 529 Coffman St. in Longmont; or 722 Main St. in Louisville. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Voters who have moved since the previous election will need to update their registration if they plan to vote in the upcoming election.
The upcoming election will be conducted by mail ballot only. All active, registered voters will receive a ballot. Election Day is Nov. 1, but voters will begin receiving ballots in mid-October.

Key Dates for the 2011 Coordinated Election
• Monday, Oct. 3: Last day to register to vote for the election. Boulder County Elections Division offices close at 4:30 p.m.
• Nov. 1: Election Day. Ballots must be in hands of Boulder County Clerk & Recorder’s Office no later than 7 p.m.
City of Boulder News Briefs Dog Dayz dog-swim offered at Scott Carpenter Pool Sept. 6 to Sept. 18

The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department will host Dog Dayz (dog swimming) from Sept. 6 through Sept. 18 at Scott Carpenter Pool, 1505 30th St.
Scott Carpenter Pool will close for public swimming at the end of the day on Sept. 5. From Sept. 6 through Sept. 18, the pool will be open for dogs to swim and play in the pool. The cost is $5 per dog, per session, or $30 for unlimited entries by one dog during the 2011 Dog Dayz season.
A Dog Expo featuring dog-friendly products, vendors and organizations will also be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the pool. The pool will be open for the dogs to swim and organizations from around the county will be on hand with samples, prizes and information.

Both Spruce Pool and Scott Carpenter Pool will remain open for public swimming through Labor Day. Dog Dayz dog swimming is open daily; for a complete listing of hours and rules, please visit www.BoulderParks-Rec.org.
