Flagler College raises over $3,000 to fight heart disease
“Heart disease is the number one killer in America and knows no age, gender or race; therefore, this is something that affects all of us,” said Laura Stevenson Dumas, Director of College Relations for the college. “During the process of planning this event, it became more evident that research funded by the American Heart Association is extremely important in the lives of Flagler College students, faculty and staff.”
The event which was co-sponsored by the Flagler College Student Government Association and the Flagler College Sport Management Club, garnered $3,364 including donations from local business such as Wal-Mart, Winn Dixie, Smoothie King, Amici, Celebrations the Party People, Dunkin’ Donuts, Applebee’s and Oasis.
“Not only is the American Heart Association a valuable organization, worthy of our support,” said Stevenson Dumas. “But the Heart Walk provided us with an opportunity to bring together students, staff, faculty, alumni and families for a fun morning at the beach.”
