Watching media coverage of the Christian evangelical Republicans at the Iowa Caucus makes me cringe. Rick Perry and Michelle Bachman clearly carry the water for the right winged radical Christian movement. That movement, the evangelicals, are based in hate not the love of Jesus. They all “hate ” president Obama, they hate Catholics, and anyone who is not them.  I have attended their churches and made a detailed study of them. They are loaded with conflicts.  They think Satan rules the world and has infiltrated all forms of American life. They believe in isolating they’re followers from the mainstream. They gave us George W. Bush, the Iraq war, financial collapse, wall street greed and a lot of hate. The also gave Jesus a bad name.

Though the Republicans have a few good ideas, most of them are too crazy to actually run the government.  The ideas I agree with are cutting spending in various areas. I do like the idea of getting rid of entire federal agencies that are redundant, do what state agencies do or are a complete waste of job, time and money. If the states can run Medicare, that would be fine by me. If the states can run education, ok good. Maybe a little administrative over site from Washington, but we don’t need monstrous do nothing agencies there. With the Department of defense we don’t need anymore dam ships, subs or attack satellites.  Our intelligence agencies , coastal defenses and ready response teams, are important but our military can be condensed…… a lot. I don’t care if Obama raises taxes, but he and the Republicans better cut the shit out of the budget. Obama needs to get his penicil out  We need departments that feed and help Americans but also stimulate the economy with good trade laws.

Other American crazies include Occupy Wall Streeters who are young, dumb and full of crap. Just talk to them. They are all over the place.  Is it corporate greed and big banks or GMO’s ? Most of them hate capitalism and embrace communism so that gives their movement a no vote right their. The TeaParty on the other hand are focused and politically astute compared to the stoned hippie dumb shit occupiers, but they are all crazy right winged, gun toting, anarchists too.

What are we supposed to do with all this ??

Dear Jane

First let me say, I think you have been doing an excellent job as city manager.  This coming from someone who has been critical of most city officials over the years.  In part it is my job.  Also, though I have never met you, you have given me nor anyone concerned with free press a reason  to complain. It is a far sight from your predecessors.  I think you have resolved the public access TV issue remarkably well. Though we don’t have free public access TV anymore , we do have educational access TV and it fills the void for all citizens interested. Having BVSD run it is a good move, because they don’t cause problems.

I also think the city and police have interacted well with the occupy Boulder movement. Tonight they are camped on the front lawn of the municipal building. That’s very nice. They are our children.  And they are doing what we did’; protest the injustices of powerful corporations who don’t pay taxes and big banks who attempt to enslave us all. So they need protesting.

Personally, I would have suggested that the kids protested the homes of Boulder bankers who swindle people, rather than the city manager who is trying to keep the lid on all of it.

In any event  I support occupys political tactics.  I think when a group who are trying to fight for freedom and against greed or intolerance, run into road blocks, they will change the rules in public policy.  I certainly did. They people who stood up to the city over lack of free speech concerning public access TV, took radical steps to be heard. I did from 2005 to 2007. The city council and the city manger were under daily attacks by video, blogs and speech at council.  Did it solve anything ?  It showed without resolution they would remain under siege.

Much holds true with occupy Boulder.  Until the banks and corporations are held accountable by the city, occupy is not going away. That is the issue. Not the protesters. They are Boulders children carrying on.
